ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution consists of water, sea salt (1.2%), oxychloride NaOCI (0.04%) and hypochlorous acid HOCl (0.004%).The main active ingredients oxychloride and sea salt act against pathogens typical of wounds without damaging the tissue.The decontaminating effect against MRSA/VRE was tested positive.The oxidative effect of oxychloride and the hypertonic sea salt solution also neutralize wound odors.The alkaline pH value of the solution supports the controlled release of oxygen.Sea salt contains mainly sodium chloride (98%) and 2% other sea salts.The increased salt content of the solution ensures an optimal hyperosmotic effect, which allows swelling in the wound area to quickly subside.

Areas of application

ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution is suitable for cleaning, moistening, decontamination, biofilm dissolution, swelling and physiological debridement of acute mechanical wounds such as skin lacerations, bite wounds, cuts and abrasions, lacerations and crush wounds as well as postoperative wounds.It is also suitable for chronic wounds such as decubitus ulcers, arteriovenous ulcers and diabetic ulcers.It can also be used for necrotic, malodorous wounds and tumor ulcers, including cavities, as well as for thermal and chemical wounds (1st to 3rd degree burns).The solution is also suitable for catheter entry ports, PEG-tubes, drainage, venous ulcers and intrathoracic, peritoneal and stoma irrigation.It can be used for intraoperative cleaning and irrigation of superficial wounds, for moistening inactive dressings and wound dressings, and for loosening encrusted dressings or other encrusted wound dressings when changing dressings.It is also suitable for local treatment on the skin and mucous membranes in inflammatory and infectious processes as well as for the prevention of infections on the mucous membranes and skin in burns and other types of wounds.

Application instructions

ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution can be used at room temperature (not above 30°C).For painful wounds, it is recommended to warm the required amount to room temperature before use.The duration and frequency of application depends on the individual wound conditions and should be carried out until all deposits and necrosis can be easily removed and the wound is visually clean.For non-infected wounds, dressings can be changed every 2-3 days.For dressings that are difficult to remove, we recommend wetting the wound dressings with the wound irrigation solution for at least 5 minutes.In the case of thick, adherent fibrinous deposits or necrosis, surgical repair/debridement is primarily recommended.Inert dressings or wound dressings soaked in ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution can be used to clean wounds.The application should preferably be in the form of the classic wet/dry phase (“moist balance”).The duration of the wet phase should be adjusted accordingly depending on the thickness and strength of the fibrin deposits, microbial colonization, wound edge maceration or irritation.If the wound environment is stable and the wound base is clean without any microbial abnormalities, an exposure time of 5-10 minutes is recommended.In the case of fibrin coating without microbial abnormalities, including wound edge maceration or irritation, the exposure time should be 15 minutes.For foul-smelling, heavily germ-colonized wounds with a fibrin coating, an exposure time of 20 minutes is recommended.When using, care should be taken to ensure that the bottle does not touch the patient's skin or wound to avoid contamination or the spread of microorganisms.

Tissue tolerance and biocompatibility

ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution is suitable for long-term and repeated use when changing dressings, even on irritated skin and mucous membranes.The application is painless and is generally well tolerated by allergy sufferers.There is no fear of inhibiting granulation and epithelialization.The ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution is rated as dermatologically harmless.

Risks if used improperly

Improper use can result in softened edges of the wound.Cross-contamination between wounds or patients can occur if the tube/bottle is handled incorrectly.

Side effects

So far, in several years of clinical experience, temporary, mild burning sensations have only occurred in very isolated cases in sensitive wounds.

Contraindications

Since allergies can never be ruled out, ActiMaris wound irrigation solutions or ActiMaris wound gel should not be used if you have known allergies or are suspected of having an allergy to one of the ingredients.

Application limitations

There is no evidence of genotoxicity, carcinogenicity or embryotoxic effects of the ingredients.However, due to a lack of studies and long-term experience in pregnant and breastfeeding women, ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution should only be used in these cases after careful medical benefit-risk assessment.Due to insufficient long-term experience, ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution should only be used in infants and small children after careful medical benefit-risk assessment.

Interactions

ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution has an energetic and oxidizing effect as a bio-physical complex due to its content of ROS-substances (1O2 + OCR), so that a simultaneous combination with other local, active substances and/or interactive wound dressings is generally not necessary.Contact with non-precious metals should be avoided.After using ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution, the wound can be covered with modern wound dressings.There is clinical evidence of good tolerability with modern wound dressings such as silver wound dressings as well as with inert, non-active dressings and wound dressings such as compresses, gauzes, pillows, sponges, gels, hydrofibers, alginates, hydrocolloids, etc.The simultaneous use of the ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution with the ActiMaris wound gel is possible and sensible.

General safety instructions

ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution is very suitable for external use on skin and mucous membrane wounds.Do not use for infusion or injection!Do not take!Only use perfect and undamaged containers.Keep safe from children!It cannot be ruled out that colored textiles may become discolored after contact with ActiMaris products.In case of contact with colored textiles, rinse immediately with water.

Storage instructions, shelf life, use-by period

ActiMaris Sensitiv wound irrigation solution should be stored at a room temperature between +5°C and +25°C.The bottles must be protected from direct sunlight.The shelf life is 30 months.The current expiry date is printed on the packaging.After opening the bottle, the usage period is 3 months.Always close the container tightly after use.
