Most accidents happen at home.According to the Robert Koch Institute, 2.8 million people in Germany suffer an accident at home every year.But sports and leisure activities are also common causes of blunt injuries such as falls, strains, bruises and sprains in children and adults.But the risk of injury lurks everywhere: in the warm summer months, the swimming pool season poses a risk of slipping, and in the autumn and winter months there is generally an increased risk of slipping and falling due to wet conditions, snow and ice.Bruises and blunt injuries are common everyday injuries for all age groups.

What is meant by a bruise?

A bruise is a blunt injury that occurs, for example, as a result of a shock, impact, fall or fall without any visible skin injury.Blunt injuries often limit the mobility of the affected body part.But why do bruises actually hurt?A bruise causes skin, fatty tissue or muscles to be squeezed.This can lead to swelling, bruising and inflammation and, understandably, cause unpleasant pain.Blunt injuries usually heal without consequences if they are treated early and specifically.Depending on the severity, the healing time can range from a few days to weeks.As a decongestant, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving gel, Reparil® Gel N Madaus offers a comprehensive approach to external, symptomatic treatment.

First aid for blunt injuries - The PECH-rule

If the worst comes to the worst, the so-called PECH-rule has proven to be a quick and recommended first aid for blunt injuries and for the treatment of sports injuries.The aim is to reduce the swelling and inflammation, relieve the pain and initiate appropriate therapy.This can reduce, possibly even prevent, subsequent damage and reduce the healing time.So how do you behave correctly?The PECH-rule says: take a break and avoid further stress or sporting activities.Use ice or cold spray, such as Reparil® Ice-Spray, for quick cooling.Cooling reduces blood flow, which reduces swelling and pain.Compression: Applying a pressure bandage with moderate pressure to prevent swelling.Elevate the injured area.This reduces blood flow, promotes lymphatic drainage and reduces swelling.

With dual power against pain

In order to provide effective pain relief beyond first aid measures, Reparil®-Gel N Madaus provides relief with its unique active ingredient composition.It has a decongestant, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect.Reparil®-Gel N Madaus combines a pain reliever (diethylamine salicylate - DEAS) with the natural effectiveness of horse chestnut (aescin). DEAS is known as an effective pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory substance for muscle and joint pain.Aescin has been proven to have an anti-inflammatory effect.The active ingredient reduces water accumulation in the tissue and therefore has a decongestant effect.The salicylic acid compound DEAS increases the anti-inflammatory effect and has a particularly deep, pain-relieving effect.

Area of application

The preparation is a decongestant, anti-inflammatory, cooling and pain-relieving gel.It is a herbal medicine with the following areas of application: discomfort and feeling of heaviness in the legs, which can be attributed to slight circulatory disorders in the superficial veins (superficial varicose veins).For vein care after injections or infusions.After blunt injuries such as bruises, sprains (sports injuries), contusions, swelling or bruising.If you do not feel better after 14 days or feel worse after blunt injuries, contact your doctor.

10 mg aescin, 50 mg diethylammonium salicylate, carbomer 980 excipient, disodium edetat 2-water excipient, isopropyl alcohol excipient, polyoxyethylene (6) caprylic acid/capric acid glyceride excipient, trometamol excipient, water, purified excipient, bitter orange blossom oil excipient, lavender oil excipient.

Contraindications

The preparation must not be used if you are allergic to escin or diethylamine salicylate or any of the other ingredients.Reparil gel must not be applied to open skin areas, mucous membranes or areas of skin that have been treated with radiation.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over: The recommended dose is to apply and spread in a thin layer on the skin over the affected area 1 to 3 times daily.The product is not intended for use on children under 12 years of age.

Duration of use: If you do not feel better or even feel worse after 14 days of blunt injuries, contact your doctor.

If you have used a larger amount than you should: With long-term use on large areas, increased absorption of diethylamine salicylate through the skin can cause stomach/intestinal problems or an increased tendency to bleed.In these cases, stop treatment immediately and consult a doctor.

If you forget to use: Do not use a double dose if you forget the previous application.Continue using as usual.

Intake

Apply the gel in a thin layer to the skin over the affected area 1 to 3 times a day and spread it.Massage is not necessary.For use on the skin.Wash hands after application.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the gel.If you experience redness of the skin, inflammation of the veins or hardening, severe pain, ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs, or impaired heart or kidney function, you should consult a doctor immediately.If you have existing stomach or intestinal ulcers, damaged kidneys or an increased tendency to bleeding, the preparation must not be used over large areas or long-term.

Due to the lack of data on safety and effectiveness, use in children under 12 years of age cannot be recommended.

Ability to drive and use machines: Not applicable.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Since there are insufficient data, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

Application

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: The gel is applied 3 times daily.Depending on the size of the painful area to be treated, an amount the size of a cherry to a walnut, corresponding to approx. 2.5 - 6 g of gel (approx. 81 - 195 mg salicylate), is required.The maximum total daily dose is 20 g of gel, corresponding to approximately 650 mg of salicylate.

Children under 12 years: There are no sufficient studies on use in children.Use in children under 12 years is therefore not recommended.

The gel is applied thinly to the affected parts of the body and rubbed in lightly.Before applying a bandage, the gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes.The use of an occlusive dressing is not recommended.As a rule, one application over 1 - 2 days is sufficient.

Notes

For external use only!Do not take!For short-term use.The gel must not get into the eyes.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
