Directions for use of the article Mometasone ratiopharm hay fever spray: Mometasone ratiopharm hay fever spray contains the active substance mometasone furoate and is used for the symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults. It relieves inflammation, sneezing, itching and a blocked or runny nose caused by hay fever. Caution should be exercised before use by certain groups of people: People who are allergic to mometasone furoate or other ingredients of the medicine, people with untreated nasal infections or with injuries to the nose, and people who have had recent surgery on the nose. Some warnings and precautions should be observed: People with tuberculosis or other infections, cystic fibrosis or an impaired immune system should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. Mometasone-ratiopharm hay fever spray must not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Simultaneous use with other medicines should be discussed with a doctor. The nose should be cleansed for the application of the spray. The recommended dose is two sprays into each nostril once a day. After 12 hours, the symptoms often begin to subside, but it can take up to two days before the full effect is felt. If the symptoms improve, the dose can be reduced to one spray in each nostril. If there is no improvement, a doctor should be consulted. The nasal spray should not be used for longer than 3 months without medical advice. Thorough cleaning of the nasal spray is important and use should be regular. Side effects such as immediate hypersensitivity reactions may occur when using the spray. If swelling of the face, tongue or throat occurs, medical attention should be sought immediately. Mometasone-ratiopharm hay fever spray containing benzalkonium chloride and less than 1 mmol sodium per spray should be used with caution in pregnant women and during breastfeeding.
