Area of application

Levocetirizine HEXAL® for allergies 5 mg film-coated tablets is an anti-allergic drug that is used to treat symptoms of various allergic diseases.These include hay fever, which can occur all year round, such as house dust or animal hair allergies, and chronic hives, which is characterized by swelling, redness and itching of the skin.The drug also helps in relieving eye and nose allergy symptoms in allergic rhinitis and itchy rashes in chronic hives.

Levocetirizine HEXAL® for allergies 5 mg film-coated tablets works quickly and relieves allergic symptoms within half an hour of taking it.It is well tolerated and suitable for children aged 6 and over.Due to its long-lasting effect, daily intake is sufficient.The drug is particularly potent for itchy rashes.

Mode of action

The active ingredient levocetirizine dihydrochloride in Levocetirizine HEXAL® for allergies is a state-of-the-art antihistamine.Antihistamines block the histamine receptor and thus prevent the development of typical allergy symptoms such as itching, runny nose or itchy eyes.Levocetirizine can relieve allergy symptoms within half an hour of taking it, and its effectiveness can last up to 24 hours.

Levocetirizine HEXAL® for allergies 5 mg film-coated tablets contains the active ingredient levocetirizine dihydrochloride.Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride.Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate (vegetable), hypromellose, macrogol 400 and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

Levocetirizine HEXAL® for allergies 5 mg film-coated tablets should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, if you have kidney disease, if you are prone to seizures (e.g. epilepsy) and in infants and children under 6 years of age.Use during pregnancy should be avoided due to insufficient experience.

Dosage

The usual dose for adults and children aged 6 and over is 1 film-coated tablet daily.Children under 6 years of age should not take Levocetirizine HEXAL® if they have allergies.For mild to moderate kidney failure, the doctor may prescribe a lower dose depending on the severity of the kidney disease.The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms and should be discussed with the doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The film-coated tablet should be swallowed whole with water or another liquid.The preparation can be taken with or without food.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product if you suffer from epilepsy or are at risk of seizures.Even if you have kidney failure, the dosage should be discussed with your doctor.If you are unable to empty your bladder completely, please ask your doctor for advice.The medicine is not recommended for children under 6 years of age as the dose cannot be adjusted with the film-coated tablets.

Some patients may experience drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness and fatigue during therapy.Use caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.In special studies, however, no impairment of the attention, reaction ability and driving ability of healthy test subjects was found when taking levocetirizine in the recommended dosage.

Notes

This medicine contains lactose.When following a diabetes diet, you should consider the sugar content.Store the medicine out of the reach of children.No prescription is required for this product.

Application

Adults and children aged 6 years and over should take 5 mg once daily.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
