Azedil 1 mg/ml nasal spray solution is used to treat hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over. The active substance azelastine belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Antihistamines work by blocking the effects of substances, such as histamine, that are produced by the body during an allergic reaction. Azedil reduces inflammation in the nose, thereby relieving the symptoms of hay fever. The nasal spray should be used twice a day, with one spray per nostril. It is recommended to continue using it as long as there is contact with the allergy-causing substance. Azedil is well tolerated and has no habituation effect. Side effects are rare and may include mild irritation of the nose, such as burning or tingling, and taste disturbance. The nose should be cleaned before use. Azedil should be used within 6 months after opening and stored at room temperature. The nasal spray is available without a prescription.
