Area of application

Azedil contains the active ingredient azelastine hydrochloride, which is an antihistamine.These medicines prevent the effects of histamines, which are released during allergic reactions.Azelastine reduces inflammation in the nose and is used for the symptomatic treatment of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over.If your symptoms do not improve or worsen after two days, please consult a doctor.

Each milliliter of the solution contains 1 milligram of azelastine hydrochloride.A spray with a volume of 0.14 milliliters contains 0.14 milligrams of the active ingredient.In addition, Azedil contains the following excipients: sodium edetate, hypromellose 4000, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, citric acid, sodium chloride and purified water.

Contraindications

Azedil must not be used if you are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.Children under 6 years of age should not use the nasal spray as there are no sufficient studies on dosage and effect.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Azedil should only be used after consulting a doctor.

Dosage

The recommended dose is one spray per nostril twice daily, morning and evening.This corresponds to a daily dose of 0.56 milligrams of azelastine hydrochloride.The duration of use depends on the type, severity and course of the symptoms.Azedil is suitable for long-term treatment.No symptoms of poisoning are to be expected in the event of an overdose, but a doctor should be consulted if larger quantities are accidentally swallowed.If an application is missed, simply continue therapy at the next scheduled time.

Intake

Azedil should be used with the head in an upright position.Before the first use, remove the protective cover and pump several times until an even spray mist emerges.Then spray one spray per nostril.After use, clean the spray pump with a clean paper handkerchief and put the protective cover back on.If you have not used the nasal spray for more than three weeks, press the pump once before using it again.

Patient information

Do not tilt your head back too far during use to avoid increased absorption of the active ingredient into the body.This could cause drowsiness and a bitter taste.When using the preparation, in individual cases symptoms such as fatigue, fatigue, exhaustion, dizziness or a feeling of weakness may occur, which can impair the ability to drive a motor vehicle and operate machines.Alcohol can make this effect even worse.

Pregnancy

There is insufficient experience with the use of azelastine during pregnancy.Therefore, as a precaution, the product should not be used in the first three months of pregnancy.In the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, the medicine may only be used if absolutely necessary and under medical supervision.Since the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk to a small extent, Azedil should not be used during breastfeeding.
