Area of application

Azedil 1 mg/ml nasal spray solution is used for the symptomatic treatment of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over.

Mode of action

Azedil 1 mg/ml nasal spray solution contains the active ingredient azelastine.Azelastine belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines.Antihistamines prevent the effects of substances, such as histamines, that are produced by the body in connection with an allergic reaction.Azelastine can reduce inflammation in the nose.

Azedil 1 mg/ml nasal spray solution contains azelastine hydrochloride as the active ingredient.1 ml solution contains 1 mg azelastine hydrochloride.1 spray of 0.14 ml contains 0.14 mg azelastine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are sodium edetate, hypromellose 4000, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, citric acid, sodium chloride and purified water.

Contraindications

Azedil 1 mg/ml nasal spray solution must not be used if you are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Azedil 1 mg/ml nasal spray solution is used as follows: The recommended dose is one spray per nostril twice daily (morning and evening), which corresponds to 0.56 mg azelastine hydrochloride per day.The nasal spray should not be used in children under 6 years of age as there are no sufficient studies on dosage and pharmacokinetics.There is also insufficient experience with the treatment of patients with liver and/or kidney insufficiency.

Intake

The application should be carried out with the head in an upright position.After removing the protective cover, pump several times only for the first use until an even spray mist emerges.Spray one spray per nostril while keeping your head in an upright position.After use, wipe the spray pump with a clean paper tissue and put the protective cover back on.If you have not used the nasal spray for 3 weeks or longer and want to start using it again, you must first press the pump once.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the product.If you tilt your head back too far during use, you may experience drowsiness and a bitter taste as a result of increased absorption into the body.When using the preparation, complaints such as fatigue, fatigue, exhaustion, dizziness or weakness are possible in individual cases, which can also be caused by the disease.In these cases, the ability to drive a motor vehicle and operate machines may be impaired.Please note that alcohol can further worsen your ability to drive.
