Information for use with the article Folic acid SANAVITA 5 mg tablets: Folic acid SANAVITA 5 mg tablets are a vitamin preparation for the treatment of folic acid deficiencies that cannot be corrected by diet. The tablets are taken unchewed at mealtimes with some liquid. The recommended dose is 1-3 tablets per day as required (corresponding to 5-15 mg folic acid). During pregnancy and breastfeeding, one tablet should be taken daily (corresponding to 5 mg folic acid). In the event of an overdose, gastrointestinal disorders, sleep disturbances, agitation and depression may occur. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if there are any questions about taking the medicine. The medicinal product contains folic acid (5 mg) as the active substance and other ingredients such as lactose monohydrate, talc, cellulose powder, highly dispersed silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate. Contraindications to the use of the medicinal product are hypersensitivity to the ingredients and anaemia with enlarged red blood cells. In certain cases, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding should be discussed with a doctor. Possible side effects include allergic reactions, reddening of the skin, itching, gastrointestinal disorders and sleep disturbances.
