Directions for use of the article Folic acid Aristo 5 mg tablets: Folic acid Aristo 5 mg tablets are used to treat folic acid deficiency and to prevent neural tube defects in unborn babies. The tablets contain 5 mg of folic acid and are taken once a day, independently of meals. Children under 6 years of age should not take the medicine. You should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Folic Acid Aristo, especially if you have a vitamin B12 deficiency, anaemia of unknown cause or cancer. A lower dose is recommended for healthy pregnant women without risk of neural tube defect. Taking folic acid Aristo together with other medicines may affect their effect. The medicine can be taken during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Side effects of Folic Acid Aristo are rare and may include mild allergic reactions, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, itching, skin rash or swelling of the face.
