Relief for allergy sufferers
Many people suffer from allergies. In an allergy, the immune system reacts to harmless substances such as plant pollen, food, pet dander or insect venom as if they were dangerous invaders. This triggers the release of histamine, a chemical messenger that triggers an alarm response. This reaction can lead to symptoms such as itching and burning in the eyes and nasal mucosa, sneezing or various skin reactions such as swelling, redness and itching, up to serious circulatory problems.Even though most allergies are more annoying than dangerous, they should be taken seriously because harmless hay fever can turn into more dangerous allergic asthma.
Levocetirizine AL 5 mg film-coated tablets can relieve nasal and eye problems that occur with allergic rhinitis, as well as symptoms of chronic hives such as itching.
Low dosage
Levocetirizine is a molecular variant of the proven antihistamine cetirizine, which is available as a racemate, consisting of clockwise and counterclockwise isomers in approximately the same ratios. The two mirror-image forms have very different effects: only the (R) isomer is pharmacologically active.Levocetirizine is this active (R) molecular variant (enantiomer) of cetirizine. The H1 receptor affinity of levocetirizine is twice as high as that of cetirizine. Therefore, half the dose of levocetirizine is required compared to cetirizine to achieve a comparable anti-allergic effect.Levocetirizine can be used in children as young as 6 years old.
Allergies have many faces
It always makes sense to know what triggers an allergy.A specialist can use a simple test to determine what the body is allergic to and whether there are cross allergies.Particularly severe reactions, such as allergic shock, can be triggered, for example, by insect venom, foods such as nuts, eggs, milk or certain medications such as antibiotics, anesthesia and X-ray contrast media. The most common symptoms include burning and itching in the eyes, nose, mouth and throat, swelling of the mucous membranes, tightness in the throat, and even dizziness and loss of consciousness.
Occupational allergies
So-called occupational allergies, such as baker's asthma or hairdresser's eczema, are also of considerable importance for many people. Many people regularly have to deal with substances that are highly allergenic in their work. For quite a few people, this leads to giving up their job due to health restrictions.
Also suitable for children aged 6 and over
It is not easy to keep children away from the triggers of allergic reactions such as house dust or pollen. The annoying skin reactions of chronic hives also occur in children and require relief.Levocetirizine AL 5 mg film-coated tablets can be used in children from the age of 6 years.
