Dosage and application

For menopausal women, it is recommended to take 2 film-coated tablets of Remifemin plus St. John's wort 2 times a day. From the 9th week onwards, the dose can be reduced to 1 film-coated tablet 2 times a day. It is important not to exceed the total dose without consulting a doctor or pharmacist. The film-coated tablets should be taken unchewed with liquid and can be taken independently of meals. The effect of Remifemin plus St. John's wort is not immediate and generally becomes apparent after 2 to 4 weeks. It is recommended to take the medicine for several months, but not longer than 6 months without medical advice.

Contraindications and side effects

Remifemin plus St. John's wort should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, impaired liver function or estrogen-dependent tumours. The medicinal product must not be used in children, adolescents under 18 years of age and during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Possible side effects are rare and may include gastrointestinal complaints and allergic skin reactions. A doctor should be consulted in case of suspected overdose or the occurrence of any disturbances of well-being.

Composition and mode of action

The ingredients of Remifemin plus St. John's wort are a special isopropanolic extract from the rootstock of the black cohosh (iCR) and St. John's wort. Black cohosh relieves physical symptoms of menopause such as hot flushes and sweating, while St. John's wort improves mental symptoms such as mood swings, nervousness and irritability. The medicine is hormone-free and free of phytoestrogens. It is safe on breast and uterine tissue.

Important notes

Excessive radiation should be avoided during treatment with Remifemin plus St John's wort UV-as the skin may be more sensitive. Caution should be exercised in the case of allergies to ascorbic acid (vitamin C), dyes, lactose, peanuts or soya. Interactions with other medicines may occur, so any other medicines taken should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist before treatment. The medicine should be stored away from heat.
