IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets offer a quick solution to headaches.The active ingredient ibuprofen, combined with the accelerator lysine, dissolves quickly in the stomach and takes effect after just 15 minutes.These tablets are suitable for adults, teenagers and children aged 6 and over and are available without a prescription.

Mode of action

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen, which is bound to the accelerator lysine.This combination allows for rapid dissolution in the stomach and a rapid effect.Ibuprofen inhibits the formation of prostaglandins, which are involved in the development of pain, inflammation and fever.This reduces pain, inflammation and fever.The tablets are well tolerated and can be used to treat headaches, toothaches, menstrual pain, migraines, inflammation, fever and cold-related headaches and body aches.

Active ingredients and ingredients

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen-DL-lysine (1:1).Each film-coated tablet contains 684 mg ibuprofen-DL-lysine (1:1), equivalent to 400 mg ibuprofen.The other ingredients are: Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, talc, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich].Film coating: Hypromellose, Macrogol 6000, Glycerol 85 %.

Contraindications

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, if you have asthma attacks, swelling of the nasal mucosa or skin reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, if you have unexplained blood formation disorders, if you have existing or repeated gastroduodenal ulcers or bleeding in the past, if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforationin connection with previous therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR), with cerebral hemorrhages or other active bleeding, with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, with severe heart failure (heart failure) or with coronary artery disease, in the last trimester of pregnancy or in children weighing less than 20 kg.

Dosage

Adults can start with a starting dose of 200 mg or 400 mg ibuprofen (½ or 1 tablet).If necessary, an additional 200 mg or 400 mg ibuprofen can be taken (½ or 1 tablet), however the total dose of 1200 mg ibuprofen (3 tablets) should not be exceeded within 24 hours.The interval between each dose should not be less than 6 hours.For children weighing 20 kg or more (around 6 years of age) and adolescents, the maximum total daily dose of ibuprofen is 30 mg per kg of body weight, divided into 3 to 4 individual doses.The interval between each dose should not be less than 6 hours.The recommended maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.

The following dosage guidelines apply to children and adolescents: With a body weight of 20 - 29 kg, the single dose is 200 mg (½ tablet), maximum daily dose is 600 mg (1 ½ tablets).With a body weight of 30 - 39 kg, the single dose is 200 mg (½ tablet), maximum daily dose is 800 mg (2 tablets).For a body weight of 40 kg or more, the single dose is 200 - 400 mg (½ - 1 tablet), maximum daily dose 1200 mg (3 tablets).

The film-coated tablets should be taken with water.For patients with sensitive stomachs, it is recommended to take the tablets with meals.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you suffer from certain congenital blood formation disorders, certain autoimmune diseases, gastrointestinal disorders or chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, reduced kidney or liver function, dehydration, high blood pressure, heart muscle weakness, allergies, chronic swelling of the mucous membranes or chronic respiratory diseases that narrow the airways, blood clotting disorders, immediately after major surgical procedures or infections.

Side effects can be reduced by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time necessary to control symptoms.With long-term use, regular monitoring of your liver values, kidney function and blood count is necessary.

Simultaneous use with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR), including so-called cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors, should be avoided.

Elderly patients are more likely to experience side effects after using NSAR , particularly bleeding and perforation in the gastrointestinal tract, which can be fatal.

Bleeding, ulcers and perforations in the gastrointestinal tract may occur during treatment with all NSAR .The risk is higher with increasing NSARdosage if you have had a previous ulcer, especially if bleeding or perforation occurred as complications, and in older patients.

Anti-inflammatories/pain relievers such as ibuprofen may be associated with a slightly increased risk of a heart attack or stroke, especially when used in high doses.Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration.

Serious skin reactions have been reported in association with treatment with ibuprofen.If you develop a skin rash, mucous membrane lesions, blisters or other signs of allergy, you should stop taking ibuprofen and seek medical treatment immediately.

Ibuprofen can mask signs of infection, such as fever and pain.Therefore, it is possible that ibuprofen may delay adequate treatment of the infection, which may lead to an increased risk of complications.

Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions have been observed in very rare cases.At the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction after taking the preparation, treatment must be discontinued.

You should drink enough fluids during treatment, especially if you have fever, diarrhea or vomiting.

Prolonged use of any type of painkiller for headaches can make them worse.If this is the case or suspected, medical advice should be sought and treatment discontinued.

In general, the habitual use of painkillers, especially when several painkillers are combined, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (analgesic nephropathy).

There is a risk of kidney dysfunction in dehydrated children and adolescents.

Since side effects such as tiredness, dizziness and visual disturbances can occur when using the preparation, in individual cases the ability to react and the ability to actively participate in traffic and operate machines may be impaired.This applies even more in combination with alcohol.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
