IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets offer a quick solution to headaches.The active ingredient ibuprofen, combined with the accelerator lysine, dissolves more quickly in the stomach and takes effect after just 15 minutes.These tablets are suitable for adults, teenagers and children aged 6 and over and are available without a prescription.

Mode of action

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen, which inhibits the formation of prostaglandins.These endogenous substances are involved in the development of pain, inflammation and fever.By inhibiting prostaglandins, pain, inflammation and fever are relieved.The combination with lysine allows for faster dissolution in the stomach, so that the effect begins after just 15 minutes.

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets help with mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains.They can also be used for the acute headache phase of migraine with or without aura, as well as for fever and pain associated with colds.The tablets are suitable for children weighing 20 kg or more (from 6 years), teenagers and adults.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets is ibuprofen-DL-lysine (1:1).Each film-coated tablet contains 684 mg ibuprofen-DL-lysine (1:1), equivalent to 400 mg ibuprofen.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, talc, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich], hypromellose, macrogol 6000 and glycerol 85%.The tablets are free of lactose, gluten and components of animal origin.

Contraindications

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets should not be taken if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, if you have asthma attacks, swelling of the nasal mucosa or skin reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, if you have unexplained blood formation disorders, if you have existing or repeated gastro-duodenal ulcers or bleeding in the past, if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforationin connection with previous therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR), with cerebral hemorrhages or other active bleeding, with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, with severe heart failure (heart failure) or with coronary artery disease, in the last trimester of pregnancy or in children weighing less than 20 kg.

Dosage

Adults can start with a starting dose of 200 mg or 400 mg ibuprofen (½ or 1 tablet).If necessary, an additional 200 mg or 400 mg ibuprofen can be taken (½ or 1 tablet), however the total dose of 1200 mg ibuprofen (3 tablets) should not be exceeded within 24 hours.The interval between each dose should not be less than 6 hours.

For children weighing 20 kg or more (around 6 years of age) and adolescents, the maximum total daily dose of ibuprofen is 30 mg per kg of body weight, divided into 3 to 4 individual doses.The interval between each dose should not be less than 6 hours.The recommended maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.

The following dosage guidelines apply to children and adolescents: With a body weight of 20 - 29 kg, the single dose is 200 mg (½ tablet), maximum daily dose is 600 mg (1 ½ tablets).With a body weight of 30 - 39 kg, the single dose is 200 mg (½ tablet), maximum daily dose is 800 mg (2 tablets).For a body weight of 40 kg or more, the single dose is 200 - 400 mg (½ - 1 tablet), maximum daily dose 1200 mg (3 tablets).

The film-coated tablets should be taken with water.For patients with sensitive stomachs, it is recommended to take the tablets with meals.

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 400 mg film-coated tablets are intended to be taken orally.Swallow the film-coated tablets with water.For patients with sensitive stomachs, it is recommended to take the tablets with meals.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you suffer from certain congenital blood formation disorders, autoimmune diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, impaired kidney or liver function, dehydration, high blood pressure, heart failure, allergies, chronic mucous membrane swelling, chronic respiratory diseases, blood clotting disorders or after major surgical procedures.

Side effects can be reduced by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time necessary to control symptoms.With long-term use, regular monitoring of your liver values, kidney function and blood count is necessary.

Simultaneous use with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR), including so-called cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors, should be avoided.

Elderly patients are more likely to experience side effects after using NSAR , particularly bleeding and perforation in the gastrointestinal tract, which can be fatal.

Bleeding, ulcers and perforations in the gastrointestinal tract may occur during treatment with all NSAR .The risk is higher with increasing NSARdose if you have had a previous ulcer, especially if bleeding or perforation occurred as complications, and in older patients.

Anti-inflammatories/pain relievers such as ibuprofen may be associated with a slightly increased risk of a heart attack or stroke, especially when used in high doses.Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration.

Serious skin reactions have been reported in association with treatment with ibuprofen.If you develop a skin rash, mucous membrane lesions, blisters or other signs of allergy, you should stop taking ibuprofen and seek medical treatment immediately.

Ibuprofen can mask signs of infection, such as fever and pain.If you take this medicine during an infection and your infection symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor immediately.

Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions have been observed in very rare cases.At the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction after taking the preparation, treatment must be discontinued.

You should drink enough fluids during treatment, especially if you have fever, diarrhea or vomiting.

Prolonged use of any type of painkiller for headaches can make them worse.If this is the case or suspected, medical advice should be sought and treatment discontinued.

In general, the habitual use of painkillers, especially when several painkillers are combined, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (analgesic nephropathy).

There is a risk of kidney dysfunction in dehydrated children and adolescents.

Since side effects such as tiredness, dizziness and visual disturbances can occur when using the preparation, in individual cases the ability to react and the ability to actively participate in traffic and operate machines may be impaired.This applies even more in combination with alcohol.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
