Areas of application
Endofalk® Classic is used for bowel evacuation in preparation for operations and/or examinations.It is a macrogol-containing intestinal rinsing solution that is free of Glauber's salt and is pleasantly flavored and available in orange/passion fruit or pineapple/lemon flavors.
Composition
The medicinally active ingredients of Endofalk® Classic are potassium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and macrogol 3350. One sachet contains 0.185 g potassium chloride, 1,400 g sodium chloride, 0.715 g sodium bicarbonate and 52,500 g macrogol 3350. Two sachets, dissolved in one liter of water, contain 0.370 g potassium chloride, 2,800g sodium chloride, 1,430 g sodium bicarbonate and 105,000 g macrogol 3350. The other ingredients are saccharin sodium, orange flavor, passion fruit flavor and highly dispersed silicon dioxide.
Dosage and instructions for use
Endofalk® Classic is used as a powder to make an oral solution.To completely cleanse the intestines, 3 or a maximum of 4 liters of the solution must be taken.One bag corresponds to 0.5 liters of solution.The solution is drunk in portions of 200 to 300 ml per 10 minutes until the discharge from the anus is clear.The rinsing solution is usually taken about 4 hours before the examination begins.The entire required amount can also be taken the evening before or part of it the evening before and the remaining amount on the morning of the day of the examination.You should not eat any solid food 2 to 3 hours before drinking Endofalk® Classic or until after the examination.
The solution is prepared fresh by dissolving the contents of 2 sachets in 500 ml of lukewarm tap water or cooled, boiled water and then making up to 1 liter with water.After preparation, the ready-to-use solution can be placed in the refrigerator to cool down.
Contraindications
Endofalk® Classic must not be used in the event of hypersensitivity to one of the active ingredients, other macrogols or one of the other ingredients, in the event of intestinal obstruction or suspected intestinal obstruction, narrowing or perforations in the gastrointestinal area, risk of perforations in the gastrointestinal area, emptying disorders of the stomach, severe, highly inflammatory stage of colon inflammation and a resulting severe, pathological expansion of the large intestine (toxic megacolon), disturbedSwallowing and gagging reflex, general weakness, patients with impaired consciousness and patients with a tendency to swallow or inhale liquids.
Particular caution is required when using Endofalk® Classic in chronic inflammatory bowel disease, inflammation of the esophagus due to reflux of stomach acid (reflux esophagitis), certain cardiac arrhythmias (S-A block or sick sinus syndrome) and elderly patients.Patients with impaired kidney function, severe heart failure or liver disease and patients with severe dehydration should not use Endofalk® Classic.There is insufficient experience with use in children, therefore Endofalk® Classic should not be used in children.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Endofalk® Classic can cause side effects.Nausea, bloating and flatulence can occur very often.Vomiting, stomach cramps and irritation of the anus can often occur.Occasionally, general malaise and insomnia may occur.Very rarely, disorders of cardiac function, drops in blood levels of sodium, potassium, calcium and chloride with tangible signs of illness, a runny nose (rhinorrhea) or acute skin inflammation (dermatitis) can occur.
Storage
Keep medicines out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the bag and carton.The ready-to-drink solution can be stored at room temperature (below 25°C) for a maximum of 3 hours or in the refrigerator (2°C - 8°C) for a maximum of 48 hours.
