Area of application

Endofalk® Classic is a white powder for oral solution.It is used to cleanse the colon in preparation for a colonoscopy.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The medicinally active ingredients of Endofalk® Classic are potassium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and macrogol 3350. One sachet contains 0.185 g potassium chloride, 1,400 g sodium chloride, 0.715 g sodium bicarbonate and 52,500 g macrogol 3350. Two sachets dissolved in one liter of water contain 0.370 g potassium chloride, 2,800 gSodium chloride, 1,430 g sodium bicarbonate and 105,000 g macrogol 3350. The other ingredients are saccharin sodium, orange flavor, passion fruit flavor and highly dispersed silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

Endofalk® Classic must not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of the active ingredients, other macrogols or any of the other ingredients.The product should also not be used in cases of intestinal obstruction, suspected intestinal obstruction, narrowing or perforations in the gastrointestinal area, risk of perforations in the gastrointestinal area, emptying disorders of the stomach, severe, highly inflammatory stage of colon inflammation and the resulting severe, pathological expansion of the large intestine (toxic megacolon), impaired swallowing and gag reflexes or general weakness.Endofalk® Classic should not be administered to patients with impaired consciousness or to patients with a tendency to swallow or inhale liquids.

Dosage

For complete intestinal cleansing, 3 or a maximum of 4 liters of Endofalk® Classic solution must be taken.One bag corresponds to ½ liter of solution.The solution is drunk in portions of 200 - 300 ml per 10 minutes until the discharge from the anus is clear.The rinsing solution is generally taken about 4 hours before the start of the examination.The entire required amount can also be taken the evening before or part of it the evening before and the remaining amount on the morning of the day of the examination.You should not eat any solid food 2 to 3 hours before drinking Endofalk® Classic or until after the examination.

Intake

The solution should be freshly prepared.The contents of 2 bags each are dissolved in 500 ml of lukewarm tap water or cooled, boiled water and then made up to 1 liter with water.The ready-to-use solution can be placed in the refrigerator to cool after preparation, as it is more pleasant to drink when chilled.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using Endofalk® Classic if you suffer from chronic inflammatory bowel disease, inflammation of the esophagus due to reflux of stomach acid (reflux esophagitis), or certain cardiac arrhythmias (S-A block or sick sinus syndrome), or if you are an elderly patient.Patients with impaired kidney function, severe heart failure or liver disease and patients with severe dehydration should not use Endofalk® Classic, as the safety of its use in these patient groups has not been sufficiently proven.There is insufficient experience with use in children, therefore Endofalk® Classic should not be used in children.

Pregnancy

There is no experience with use during pregnancy.Endofalk® Classic can be administered to pregnant women if a careful risk-benefit assessment has been made.Breastfeeding women can take Endofalk® Classic if deemed necessary.
