Dolormin® Extra for pain and fever

Dolormin® Extra is a pain-relieving, fever-reducing and anti-inflammatory medicine.It is used for the symptomatic short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains as well as fever.The product is suitable for children weighing 20 kg or more (6 years and older), teenagers and adults.

Active ingredient

The active ingredient in Dolormin® Extra is ibuprofen, specifically as ibuprofen-DL-lysine (1:1).Ibuprofen belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and has pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing effects.

Areas of application

Dolormin® Extra is used to treat mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains as well as fever.It is suitable for children aged 6 and over, teenagers and adults.

Dosage and application

The dosage of Dolormin® Extra depends on the age and weight of the patient.Children 6-9 years old (20-29 kg) take half a tablet 1-3 times a day, children 10-11 years old (30-39 kg) take half a tablet 1-4 times a day.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults (over 40 kg) can take half to one whole tablet 1-4 times a day, but not more than three tablets per day.The tablets should be swallowed whole with plenty of liquid.If you have a sensitive stomach, you can also take them with meals.

Other components

In addition to the active ingredient ibuprofen, Dolormin® Extra contains the following other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, povidone (K 30), magnesium stearate (vegetable), titanium dioxide, hydroxypropylcellulose and hypromellose.

Dolormin® Extra is known for its quick and long-lasting effects.The active ingredient ibuprofen is combined with the body-related building block lysine to accelerate the onset of action.This means that the pain-relieving effect can usually begin after just 15 minutes and lasts up to 8 hours.

What should be taken into account when taking the medication?

For children and adolescents weighing 20-29 kg and aged 6-9 years, the single dose is 200 mg ibuprofen (equivalent to half a film-coated tablet).The maximum daily dose in this age group is 600 mg.For children aged 10-11 and a body weight of 30-39 kg, the single dose is also 200 mg ibuprofen.In this age group, the maximum daily dose is 800 mg.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults can take 200-400 mg of the active ingredient ibuprofen in a single dose, whereby the maximum daily dose of 1200 mg must not be exceeded without express medical prescription.The dosing interval depends on the symptoms, but should not be less than 6 hours.If symptoms do not improve within a few days, please consult your doctor.

Contraindications

Dolormin® Extra must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, ulcers in the digestive tract, active bleeding such as bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract or cerebral hemorrhage.Caution is advised in the case of gastrointestinal complaints, inflammatory bowel diseases, blood formation disorders, high blood pressure, heart failure, impaired kidney or liver function, collagen diseases, porphyria, recent major operations, chickenpox as well as in children under 6 years of age and older patients aged 65 and over.

Side effects

Possible side effects of Dolormin® Extra include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, bleeding in the gastrointestinal area, tarry stools, inflammation of the gastric mucosa and ulcers in the digestive tract.Other possible side effects include headache, dizziness, insomnia, tiredness, irritability, agitation, skin hypersensitivity reactions, attacks of shortness of breath and visual disturbances.

Mode of action

The active ingredient ibuprofen belongs to a group of substances that are effective against both pain and inflammation and can reduce fever.All three effects are based primarily on the inhibition of a substance produced by the body, called prostaglandin.This substance must be present as a messenger substance so that pain can be felt, inflammatory reactions can be started or the body temperature can be raised.

No prescription is required for this product.If you have pain or fever, do not use for longer than stated in the package leaflet without medical advice. If you use painkillers long-term, you may experience headaches caused by the painkiller.Habitual use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage.Caution is advised in patients with nasal polyps, chronic respiratory infections, asthma or who are prone to allergic reactions.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.Alcohol consumption should be avoided if possible during long-term treatment.
