What is cetirizine AL directly and what is it used for?
Cetirizine AL direct is an anti-allergic drug that contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.It is used in adults and children 6 years and older to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria).
How should cetirizine AL be taken directly?
Cetirizine AL direct should always be taken exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take 1 lozenge (10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride) once daily.Children between 6 and 12 years of age take half of a lozenge (5 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride) twice daily.Patients with impaired renal function should take half a lozenge (5 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride) once daily.
The lozenge should be allowed to slowly dissolve in the mouth and can be taken with or without water.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.The duration of use depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms.Please ask your pharmacist for advice.
Overdose
In the event of an overdose, side effects such as confusion, diarrhea, dizziness, tiredness, headache, malaise, pupil dilation, itching, restlessness, sedation, sleepiness, drowsiness, rapid heartbeat, tremor and urinary retention may occur.If you suspect an overdose, please inform your doctor.
Forgot to take it
If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.Simply continue taking it at the next prescribed time.
How should Cetirizine AL be stored directly?
Keep cetirizine AL out of the reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the packaging.Store the medicine in the original packaging to protect it from moisture.Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater, but take them to the pharmacy for disposal.
What cetirizine AL contains directly
The active ingredient is cetirizine dihydrochloride.Each lozenge contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are Betadex, microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose powder, magnesium stearate (vegetable), sodium cyclamate, sodium dihydrogen citrate, povidone K 25 and apple flavor.
Contraindications
Cetirizine AL directly must not be taken if you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives or any of the other ingredients.The medicine should also not be used if you have severe kidney disease.
Side effects
Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, runny nose, abnormal sensations, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, malaise and general weakness.
Important notes
No prescription is required for this product.Be careful if you are allergic to the sweetener cyclamate (E number E 952).Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are already taking.
Patient information
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have impaired kidney function, difficulty urinating or epilepsy.Cetirizine AL directly can impair attention and reaction times, especially in combination with alcohol or other agents that depress the central nervous system.
Pregnancy
Taking cetirizine AL directly should be avoided during pregnancy.The medicine should not be taken during breastfeeding as cetirizine passes into breast milk.
