Cetirizine AL direct is an anti-allergic drug with the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.It is used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as to relieve chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria).The product is suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over.

How should cetirizine AL be taken directly?

Cetirizine AL directly should always be taken exactly as directed.Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take 1 lozenge daily.Children between 6 and 12 years old take half of a lozenge twice a day.Patients with impaired kidney function should discuss their intake with their doctor.

The lozenge should be allowed to slowly dissolve in the mouth and can be taken with or without water.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.The duration of use depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms.If you have any questions about taking it, you should ask your pharmacist for advice.

What cetirizine AL contains

The active ingredient is cetirizine dihydrochloride.Each lozenge contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are Betadex, microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose powder, magnesium stearate (vegetable), sodium cyclamate, sodium dihydrogen citrate, povidone K 25 and apple flavor.

Cetirizine AL directly should be kept out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.It should be stored in the original packaging to protect the contents from moisture.Medicines should never be disposed of via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy about proper disposal.

Dosage and instructions for use

Children aged 6 to 12 years take half of a lozenge twice a day, regardless of the meal.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults take one lozenge once a day, also regardless of the meal.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

The lozenge should be allowed to slowly dissolve in the mouth.The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease.An overdose may cause diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness and increased heart rate.If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.If you forget to take a dose, continue taking it at the next scheduled time without doubling the dose.

Contraindications

Cetirizine AL directly must not be taken if you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.The medicine should also not be taken if you have severe kidney disease.Children under 6 years of age should generally not use the medicine.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should ask their doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking it.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, runny nose, abnormal sensations, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, malaise and general weakness.If you feel unwell or change during treatment, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Mode of action

The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride helps with allergies and relieves itching.It suppresses the effects of the body's own substance histamine and prostaglandins by inhibiting their release from the mast cells and displacing them from their binding sites.Histamine and prostaglandins play an important role in the development of inflammation and allergic reactions.
