Area of application
Vivimed with caffeine for headaches is used to relieve acute, mild to moderate tension headaches.These are one of the two most common types of headaches.No prescription is required for this product.
Mode of action
The active ingredient paracetamol contained in Vivimed with caffeine for headaches has a pain-relieving, fever-reducing and anti-inflammatory effect at the same time.Paracetamol blocks the production of prostaglandins in the body.These are significantly involved in the development of pain, fever and inflammation.The active ingredient caffeine primarily affects the cerebral cortex.It causes the cerebral vessels to narrow, which has a particularly positive effect on headaches and migraines.Caffeine tablets also increase performance as it temporarily eliminates symptoms of fatigue.

Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to paracetamol, caffeine or any of the other ingredients.The medicine must also not be taken if there is severe impairment of liver function or in children under 12 years of age.
Dosage
When using Vivimed with caffeine for headaches for a short time without medical or dental supervision, adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take 1-2 tablets.It can be taken up to 4 times a day.The maximum daily dose should not exceed 5 tablets.Take the tablet(s) whole and with plenty of liquid (e.g. 1 large glass of water).Please note that the onset of action may be delayed if Vivimed with caffeine is taken after a meal for headaches.
Intake
Take the tablets whole with plenty of liquid.Taking it after meals may result in a delayed onset of action.
Patient information
Particular caution is required when taking it.Only take the preparation after consulting your doctor if you are a chronic alcoholic, suffer from impaired liver function, have a previously damaged kidney, have an overactive thyroid, have cardiac arrhythmias or suffer from anxiety disorders.If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days, or if you have a high fever, you should see a doctor.To prevent the risk of overdose, it should be ensured that other medicines used at the same time do not contain paracetamol.
If painkillers (analgesics) are used in high doses for a long time and not as intended, headaches can occur, which should not be treated with increased doses of the drug.In general, the habitual use of painkillers, especially combinations of several painkilling agents, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (analgesic nephropathy).If painkillers are stopped abruptly after prolonged, high-dose, improper use, headaches as well as fatigue, muscle pain, nervousness and vegetative symptoms may occur.The withdrawal symptoms subside within a few days.Until then, you should not take painkillers again and you should not take them again without medical advice.Do not use the product for long periods of time or in higher doses without medical or dental advice.
Ability to drive and use machines: The medicine has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.Nevertheless, caution should always be exercised after taking painkillers.
Pregnancy
Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.Pregnancy: The preparation should only be taken during pregnancy after carefully weighing the benefit-risk ratio.You should not take the medicine during pregnancy for a long time, in high doses or in combination with other medicines, as the safety of its use in these cases has not been proven.
Breast-feeding: Paracetamol and caffeine, the active ingredients of this medicine, pass into breast milk.Since there are no known adverse consequences for the infant, interrupting breastfeeding is usually not necessary.The infant's well-being and behavior can be affected by caffeine ingested through breast milk. With short-term use of the recommended dose, interruption of breast-feeding will usually not be necessary.If you use it for a long time or take higher doses, you should stop breastfeeding.
Notes
Alcohol consumption should be avoided if possible while using this product.For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist.If you have pain or fever, do not use it for longer than stated in the package leaflet without medical advice!
Other
Taking paracetamol regularly over months and years can lead to untreatable damage to kidney function (analgesic nephropathy, possibly fatal), which may require lifelong blood washing (hemodialysis).The same effects are not known for caffeine.There is no known additional risk of kidney damage in the combination of paracetamol and caffeine.
