Instructions for use for Acimol® 500 mg film-coated tablets, 96 pcs
Acimol® 500 mg film-coated tablets
Acimol® is a urinary tract therapeutic agent that is used to acidify urine in the natural physiological range. It is particularly suitable for bladder infections and urinary tract infections. The active ingredient L-methionine, a natural amino acid, acidifies the urine. In this acidic environment, the proliferation of bacteria, especially E. coli, is inhibited, which inhibits the growth of the triggering bacteria and supports the bladder's natural acid protection.Further areas of application include preventing the formation of new stones in certain urinary stones, such as phosphate stones, as well as optimizing the effect of antibiotics, which are most effective in acidic urine (pH 4 - 6).
No prescription is required for this product.
Area of application
Burning when urinating, constant urge to urinate and only small amounts of urine are typical signs of a urinary tract infection or bladder infection.Women in particular are more often affected by recurring bladder infections due to their shorter urethra. If the usual home remedies such as bladder teas or drinking a lot do not help, Acimol® with L-methionine offers effective support through natural urinary acidification.Acimol® is ideal for people who want to rely on a natural active ingredient for acute bladder infections or chronic urinary tract infections.Even if you are prone to urinary stones, especially phosphate stones, Acimol® can be a valuable support with its natural urinary acidification. The film-coated tablets with the body's own active ingredient L-methionine are well tolerated.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
Ingredients of Acimol® 500 mg film-coated tablets: 500 mg methionine, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate (vegetable), poly(ethyl acrylate-comethyl methacrylate)(2:1), highly dispersed silicon dioxide, pre-gelatinized starch (from corn), talc, titanium dioxide.
Dosage
The recommended dose is 1 - 2 film-coated tablets 3 times daily. The film-coated tablets are swallowed whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. a large glass of water) before meals. In order to achieve rapid urinary acidification, it makes sense to start therapy with 2 film-coated tablets 3 times a day.In special cases and only on doctor's orders, higher doses can be taken. The aim is for a urine pH value of less than pH 6. It must be taken into account that the effect of Acimol® can only occur after 5 - 6 days.
Intake
The film-coated tablets are swallowed whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. a large glass of water) before meals.
Patient information
Particular caution is required when taking it in patients with liver insufficiency or hepatogenic encephalopathy, as there is a risk of synthesis of neurotoxic mercaptans in bacterial metabolism. If there is a deficiency of folic acid, vitamin B2, B6 and/or B12, treatment with methionine can lead to an increase in homocysteine blood levels. If you use the film-coated tablets for a long time, you should pay attention to a diet rich in folic acid and vitamin B.If you have an underactive thyroid, the blood level of homocysteine can be increased. Therefore, thyroid function should be checked before treatment with methionine.During treatment with methionine, increased calcium excretion in the urine may occur. If you use the film-coated tablets for a long time, you should therefore ensure that your mineral balance is checked regularly. In patients at risk of acidosis, long-term treatment with methionine should be carried out with regular monitoring of the acid-base balance in the blood. There are no sufficient studies on the use of this medicine in children under 12 years of age.The film-coated tablets should therefore not be used in children under 12 years of age.
Pregnancy
There are insufficient data to support the use of methionine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should only take the medicine after the doctor has carefully weighed the benefits and risks.
Notes
