Effortil drops are a blood pressure-increasing medicine for the treatment of circulatory regulation disorders with lowered blood pressure (hypotension). These disorders occur when the blood pressure changes when the body position is changed (e.g. from lying or sitting to standing) with symptoms such as dizziness, feeling of weakness, paleness, sweating, flickering or blackening before the eyes together with a marked drop in blood pressure without an increase in the heart rate. It is recommended to take Effortil drops preferably before meals with a glass of liquid. For adults and children over 6 years of age, the recommended dose is 10-20 drops 3 times a day. For children between 2 and 6 years, the recommended dose is 5-10 drops 3 times a day and for children under 2 years, the recommended dose is 2-5 drops 3 times a day. It is important to regularly check the necessity of taking the drops and to consult a doctor or pharmacist if the effect is too strong or too weak. In case of an overdose, symptoms of poisoning may occur such as palpitations, cardiac arrhythmia, high blood pressure, sweating, agitation, nausea, vomiting. If an overdose is suspected, a doctor should be informed immediately. It is not advisable to forget to take the medicine or to stop taking it prematurely, as this may lead to a recurrence of the symptoms. The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date. Side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, headache, dizziness, insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, tremor, sweating, high blood pressure, palpitations, pulse acceleration, arrhythmia of the ventricles and angina pectoris. A doctor or pharmacist should be contacted in the event of any disturbances or changes during treatment. The medicinal product must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients or certain contraindications such as high blood pressure, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, narrow-angle glaucoma or diabetes mellitus. Pregnant women should consult a doctor as certain considerations are required regarding the use of the medicinal product during pregnancy. The medicinal product must not be used during breast-feeding. Interactions with other medicinal products are possible and should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist before use. The medicinal product may impair the ability to react, therefore activities such as driving and operating machinery should be carried out with caution. The medicinal product contains substances that may be classified as doping substances. It also contains parabens and sulphites which may cause hypersensitivity reactions. The medicinal product should be stored away from frost and used for a maximum of 6 months after opening.
