Directions for use of the article Effortil drops Important information (obligatory data): Effortil drops. Active substance: etilefrine hydrochloride. Indications: In circulatory regulation disorders with reduced blood pressure (hypotension), which are accompanied by complaints such as dizziness, feeling of weakness, paleness, sweating, flickering or blackening before the eyes when the body position is changed (e.g. when standing up from lying or sitting), as well as a marked drop in blood pressure without an increase in the heart rate. Warnings: Effortil drops contain sodium disulphite, methyl (4-hydroxybenzoate), propyl (4-hydroxybenzoate). What are Effortil drops and what are they used for? Effortil drops are a medicine that increases blood pressure. Effortil drops are used to treat circulatory disorders with low blood pressure (hypotension), which are accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, paleness, sweating, flickering or blackness in front of the eyes when the body position is changed (e.g. when standing up from a lying or sitting position) and a marked drop in blood pressure without an increase in the heart rate. How should I take Effortil drops? Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose for adults and children over 6 years is 10 - 20 drops 3 times a day. For children between 2 and 6 years, the recommended dose is 5 - 10 drops 3 times a day. For children under 2 years, the recommended dose is 2 - 5 drops 3 times a day. Take Effortil drops preferably before meals with a glass of liquid. For children, it is recommended to take it in a teaspoon of juice or sweetened tea. Effortil drops should not be taken in the late afternoon or evening as their stimulating effect can make it difficult to fall asleep. The need to take Effortil drops should be checked regularly. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Effortil drops is too strong or too weak. If you have taken a larger amount of Effortil drops than you should have: In case of an overdose of Effortil drops, the following symptoms of poisoning may occur: Strong acceleration of the heart rate (tachycardia), cardiac arrhythmia, excessive increase in blood pressure (possibly with headache), sweating, agitation, nausea, vomiting. In infants and small children, an overdose can lead to respiratory depression (central respiratory depression) and deep unconsciousness (coma). Please then inform a doctor immediately. He will decide on the necessity of removing the medicine from the gastrointestinal tract and administering medicinal charcoal. In severe cases, intensive medical monitoring and treatment may be necessary. If you forget to take Effortil drops: Do not take double the amount if you have forgotten to take it before. If you stop taking Effortil drops: If treatment is interrupted or stopped prematurely, the symptoms are likely to recur. How should Effortil drops be stored? Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and bottle label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Do not freeze. This medicine has a shelf life of 6 months after the first opening of the bottle. What Effortil drops contain: The active substance is etilefrine hydrochloride. 1 ml solution (= 15 drops) contains 7.5 mg etilefrine hydrochloride.
