Instructions for use of Effortil tablets

Effortil tablets are an over-the-counter medicine that is used to treat circulatory regulation disorders with low blood pressure (hypotension).These disorders can lead to symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, paleness, sweating, flickering or blackening of the eyes as well as a significant drop in blood pressure without an increase in heart rate when the body position changes, for example when getting up from lying down or sitting.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Effortil tablets is etilefrin hydrochloride.Each tablet contains 5 mg of etilefrin hydrochloride.The preparation also contains the following excipients: sodium disulfite, lactose monohydrate, dried corn starch, highly disperse silicon dioxide, modified starch and long-chain partial glycerides.

Areas of application

Effortil tablets are used for circulatory regulation disorders with low blood pressure (hypotension), which, when the body position changes, lead to symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, paleness, sweating, flickering or blackening of the eyes as well as a significant drop in blood pressure without an increase in heart rate.

Dosage and application

The recommended dose for adults and children over 6 years of age is 1 to 2 tablets 3 times a day, which corresponds to a daily dose of 15 to 30 mg of etilefrin hydrochloride.For children between 2 and 6 years of age, the recommended dose is 1 tablet 3 times a day, which corresponds to a daily dose of 7.5 to 15 mg of etilefrin hydrochloride.The tablets should preferably be taken with a glass of liquid before eating.It is recommended not to take the medicine in the late afternoon or evening as its stimulating effect may make it difficult to fall asleep.

Contraindications

Effortil tablets must not be taken in case of hypersensitivity to etilefrin hydrochloride, sodium disulfite or any of the other ingredients of the drug, high blood pressure, heart diseases such as coronary artery disease, narrowing of a heart valve, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, arteriosclerosis, urination disorders, hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, angle-closure glaucoma, in the first 3 months of pregnancy, during breastfeeding and by children2 years.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Effortil tablets can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints, nausea, headaches, dizziness, insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, tremors, sweating, high blood pressure, palpitations, increased pulse rate, arrhythmias in the ventricles and angina pectoris.Sodium disulfite can rarely cause hypersensitivity reactions and bronchial spasms.

Warnings and precautions

Particular caution is required when taking Effortil tablets if you have diabetes (diabetes mellitus), hyperthyroidism, increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia), reduced potassium content in the blood (hypokalemia), severe kidney dysfunction, a certain heart disease resulting from lung disease (cor pulmonale), cardiac arrhythmias and serious diseases that affect the heart and blood vessels.In these cases, you should seek advice and examination from your doctor before you start taking Effortil tablets.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Effortil tablets must not be taken in the first 3 months of pregnancy.It can be taken from the 4th month of pregnancy if the treating doctor approves it.Effortil tablets must not be taken during breastfeeding, as excretion into breast milk cannot be ruled out and there is no experience with infants.

Storage

Keep Effortil tablets out of the reach and reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister pack.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
