Contraindications

Ossofortin forte must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, vitamin D, soy, peanut or any of the other ingredients.Also with increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia), increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciuria), kidney limestones, calcification of the kidney tissue (nephrocalcinosis), impaired kidney function (renal insufficiency), overactive parathyroid gland, vitamin D overdose, multiple bone marrow tumor (myeloma), secondary tumors in the bone (bone metastases) or immobilizationof limbs (immobilization osteoporosis) the product should not be used.

Dosage and application

The recommended dose for adults is 1 chewable tablet twice daily, morning and evening.The chewable tablet should be chewed or sucked carefully before swallowing.It is taken during or after eating.Ossofortin forte should be taken long-term.In the event of an overdose, measures to treat hypercalcemia are required.If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose, but stick to your dosage schedule.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal disorders such as constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, flatulence and nausea.Hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria may occasionally occur.Rarely, itchy skin, rashes and hives may occur.Soybean oil can very rarely cause allergic reactions.

Warnings and precautions

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, a daily intake of 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D should not be exceeded.Since you consume 800 IU of vitamin D with 2 tablets of Ossofortin forte daily, you should not take Ossofortin forte during pregnancy.Vitamin D and its metabolites pass into breast milk.Calcium passes into breast milk in significant quantities.

Interactions

Ossofortin forte can reduce the effect of various antibiotics, such as:B. Tetracyclines, quinolones, some cephalosporins and many other drugs reduce.There should be an interval of at least 2 hours between taking Ossofortin forte and taking other medicines.Concomitant treatment with phenytoin, rifampicin, barbiturates or glucocorticoids can reduce the effect of vitamin D.

Storage

Ossofortin forte should be kept out of the reach of children.The original packaging should be used to protect the contents from light and moisture.The medicine must not be stored above 25°C.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
