What is Spalt Forte and what is it used for?

Spalt Forte is an over-the-counter medicine for adults for the short-term symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.It contains the active ingredient ibuprofen in a fully dissolved form, allowing for quick administration in a small, easy-to-swallow liquid capsule.No prescription is required for this product.

Uses

Spalt Forte is used for mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches, and period pain, as well as for fever.It is an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medicine (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug/antirheumatic).

How to use Spalt Forte?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor.Adults should not take it for more than 3 days for fever or 4 days for pain without consulting a doctor.If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor.

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over, weighing over 40 kg, is 1 liquid capsule (equivalent to 400 mg ibuprofen) up to 3 times daily.The maximum daily dose should not exceed 3 liquid capsules (equivalent to 1200 mg ibuprofen).Wait at least 6 hours between doses.

Method of administration

Swallow the capsules whole with plenty of liquid (e.g., a glass of water) during or after a meal.Patients with a sensitive stomach should take the capsules with food.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if the effect is too strong or too weak.

What Spalt Forte contains

1 Liquid capsule contains 400 mg ibuprofen.The other ingredients are macrogol 400/600, potassium hydroxide, solution of partially dehydrated sorbitol, gelatin, purified water, propylene glycol, polyvinyl acetate phthalate, and iron oxide (E 172).

How should Spalt Forte be stored?

Keep out of the sight and reach of children and do not use after the expiry date printed on the carton/container.Spalt Forte should not be stored above 25°C.Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacist for proper disposal instructions.

Contraindications

Spalt Forte must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients, if you have ulcers in the digestive tract, active bleeding, severe dehydration, or are in the last 3 months of pregnancy.If you have certain pre-existing medical conditions or are taking certain other medications, consult your doctor or pharmacist before use.

Side Effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain.Other possible side effects include headache, dizziness, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, skin hypersensitivity reactions, and visual disturbances.If you experience tarry stools or visual disturbances, consult a doctor immediately.

Important Information

Do not use for pain or fever for longer than indicated in the package leaflet without consulting a doctor.Prolonged use of painkillers can cause headaches that are themselves caused by the painkiller.Habitual use of painkillers can lead to permanent kidney damage.Caution is advised if you have allergies to painkillers or fructose intolerance.Alcohol consumption should be avoided during long-term treatment.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

During pregnancy, you should only use this medicine after consulting your doctor.Spalt Forte must not be used during the last trimester of pregnancy.Prolonged use or higher doses should be avoided while breastfeeding.

Patient Information

Special caution is advised in patients with gastrointestinal disorders, blood disorders, blood clotting disorders, high blood pressure, heart failure, coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disorders, peripheral circulatory disorders, impaired renal or hepatic function, collagen vascular diseases, and porphyria.Elderly patients should be carefully monitored during treatment.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Since central nervous system side effects such as fatigue and dizziness can occur when using higher doses of this medication, reaction time may be altered in individual cases, and the ability to actively participate in road traffic and operate machinery may be impaired.This applies to an even greater extent when combined with alcohol.
