Active ingredient and composition

The active ingredient in this preparation is sodium chloride.The solution contains 0.154 mmol of chloride ions (Cl-) and 0.154 mmol of sodium ions (Na+) per milliliter.1000 ml contains 9.00 g of sodium chloride.Other ingredients include water for injections and hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.

Contraindications

The application is not suitable if there is an increased sodium content in the blood (hypernatremia) or an increased chloride content in the blood (hyperchloremia).

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

There are no concerns about use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions and Interactions

To date, there are no known special precautions or interactions with other products.

Type and duration of application

The solution can be injected subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously.The dosage and duration of use depend on the information for the drug dissolved in the solution.When used as a carrier solution for electrolyte concentrates, the application instructions for the medication to be mixed must be observed.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include overhydration, increased sodium and chloride levels in the blood, hyperosmolarity and an acidotic metabolic state.In the event of an overdose, the supply of the solution should be interrupted and accelerated elimination via the kidneys as well as a reduced supply of the corresponding electrolytes should be carried out.

Side effects

When used as directed, no side effects are to be expected.

Durability and storage

The medicine may no longer be used after the expiry date stated on the folding box and the ampoule.Only clear solutions in intact containers should be used.The solution must be used immediately after opening and any remaining stock must be discarded.Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.

Dosage form and packages

The solution for injection is available in ampoules of 2 and 10 ml.Packs contain 10, 50 or 100 ampoules of 2 ml or 5, 10, 50 or 100 ampoules of 10 ml.
