CASTELLANI m. Miconazole solution contains the active ingredient miconazole.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

The solution is used for various fungal skin infections.These include infections with yeast fungi, filamentous fungi and other types of fungi.Specific areas of application include fungal infections of the skin, fungal infections in the body folds, athlete's foot and skin ringworm caused by bran fungus, also known as pityriasis versicolor.The product can also be used for bacterial skin infections such as dwarf lichen, also known as erythrasma.

Dosage and instructions for use

Children aged 2 and over, teenagers and adults should apply a sufficient amount of the solution to the affected skin areas 1-3 times a day.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.The duration of use is usually 2-5 weeks and should be continued for at least 14 days after the symptoms have disappeared.

If used excessively, skin irritation may occur.Pay attention to careful dosage, especially for infants, small children and the elderly.The dosage prescribed by the doctor may differ from the information in the package insert.In this case, you should use the medicine according to the doctor's instructions.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients.Newborns in the first 4 weeks of life should not use the product.Infants and small children under 2 years of age should generally not use the medicine.

Composition

Mode of action

The active ingredient miconazole interferes with the metabolism of the fungi and causes damage to their structure.The structure of the outer shell of the mushrooms, the cell membrane, is changed and becomes more impermeable to nutrients.This causes the cells to starve.Depending on the active ingredient concentration, the growth and reproduction of the fungi is inhibited or they die directly due to additional damage to the cell interior.

If you are allergic to fungal agents such as clotrimazole, benzyl alcohol or the solvent propylene glycol (E number E 477), you should be careful.
