Instructions for use for CASTELLANI VISKOS M MICONA

CASTELLANI viscous m. Miconazole solution is a medicine with the active ingredient miconazole. It is used to treat fungal skin infections caused by yeast, filamentous fungi, and other fungi. These include fungal infections of the skin, fungal infections in the folds of the body, athlete's foot and skin ringworm caused by bran fungus (pityriasis versicolor). It can also be used for bacterial skin infections such as erythrasma. No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The medicine is a fungicidal agent for the external treatment of fungal diseases of the skin.It is used for fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, molds and other fungi such as Malassezia furfur. These can occur in the form of mycoses of the feet, mycoses of the skin and skin folds, superficial candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor and erythrasma.Miconazole can be used in infants, children and adults.

Dosage and instructions for use

The solution is applied to the affected skin area 1 to 3 times a day.The signs of the fungal disease usually disappear significantly within the first 7 days after starting treatment. To avoid recurrence, treatment should be carried out until the fungal culture is negative, but at least 14 days after the symptoms have subsided. The duration of therapy is on average 2 to 5 weeks.

Always use this medicine exactly as described or as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.Excessive use may cause skin reactions, which usually resolve after therapy is stopped. If you accidentally take miconazole, please contact your doctor.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to miconazole, related antifungal medicines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. It is not suitable for use in the ear canal. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only use the solution after consulting a doctor.Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent. If you are breastfeeding, you should not use the solution on the breast area to avoid direct contact of the infant with miconazole.

Side effects

Possible undesirable effects may include hypersensitivity reactions of the skin, such as burning or stinging on the mucous membrane and redness of the skin.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Composition

The active ingredient miconazole is contained in a concentration of 20 mg.The solution contains Macrogol 400, Macrogol 1000 and purified water as excipients.

Mode of action

The active ingredient miconazole interferes with the metabolism of the fungi and causes damage to the structure of the fungi. The structure of the outer shell of the mushrooms, the so-called cell membrane, is changed. This shell becomes more impermeable to nutrients, causing the cell to starve.Depending on the active ingredient concentration, the growth and reproduction of the fungi is inhibited or they die directly due to additional damage to the cell interior.

Important notes

Be careful if you are allergic to fungal agents or the solvent polyethylene glycol.Miconazole is for external use only and must not be taken.Avoid contact with eyes.If hypersensitivity reactions or irritation occur, treatment should be discontinued.
