Ferro sanol duodenal mite is an oral iron supplement used to treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia.It is particularly suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over with a minimum weight of 20 kg.It is used for various forms of iron deficiency, including during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with a low-iron diet and after acute and chronic blood loss.

Mode of action

Iron is a vital trace element that is involved in numerous metabolic processes in the body.It plays a crucial role in the formation of red blood cells, which are responsible for transporting oxygen.A lack of iron can lead to exhaustion, poor concentration, and nail and hair breakage.

Composition

The active ingredient in ferro sanol duodenal mite is iron (II) glycine sulfate complex.Each enteric-coated hard capsule contains 283.83 mg ferrous glycine sulfate complex, equivalent to 50 mg ferrous ion.The other ingredients include methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer, microcrystalline cellulose, ascorbic acid, talc, triethyl (2-acetoxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate), hyprolose, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, sodium dodecyl sulfate, gelatin, titanium dioxide, iron (III) oxide, iron oxide hydrate and iron(II,III) oxide.

Areas of application

Ferro sanol duodenal mite is used for iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia.It is also suitable for people on a low-iron diet, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and after acute and chronic blood loss.

Dosage and instructions for use

The dosage should be individualized and the response of clinical variables such as hemoglobin, ferritin and transferrin should be monitored medically.A daily dose of 5 mg Fe2+/kg body weight should not be exceeded.

Adults and children aged 6 years and over (weighing at least 20 kg) usually take 1 enteric-coated hard capsule daily.If there is a severe iron deficiency, adults and adolescents aged 15 years and over or weighing at least 50 kg can take 2 to 3 hard capsules daily in the initial phase, which should be distributed throughout the day.

The capsules should be taken whole with sufficient water, either in the morning on an empty stomach (approx. 1 hour before breakfast) or approximately 2 hours before or after a meal.If swallowing is difficult, the contents of the capsule can also be taken without the capsule shell.

The duration of use is determined by the doctor and can last between 3 to 6 months, depending on the severity of the anemia and individual circumstances.

Contraindications

Ferro sanol duodenal mite must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, anemia with iron utilization disorders such as sideroachrestic anemia, thalassemia or lead anemia, hemochromatosis (iron overload), hemolytic anemia and in children under 6 years of age with a body weight of less than 20 kg.

Caution is advised in the case of inflammation of the gastric mucosa, ulcers in the digestive tract and inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea and constipation.In addition, the stool may turn harmless black.

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and not stored above 25°C.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the blister strips and the folding box.
