Dolormin® Extra for pain and fever

Dolormin® Extra for pain and fever is a non-prescription medicine that is used for the symptomatic short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains, as well as to reduce fever.It is suitable for children weighing 20 kg or more (from 6 years), teenagers and adults.

Active ingredient

The active ingredient in Dolormin® Extra is ibuprofen, specifically as ibuprofen-DL-lysine (1:1).Ibuprofen belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and has pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing effects.The combination with lysine improves solubility and accelerates the onset of action.

Dosage and instructions for use

The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole and with plenty of liquid, preferably a glass of water.If you have a sensitive stomach, the tablets can also be taken with meals.The tablets are scored and can be divided into equal doses.

For children and adolescents weighing 20-29 kg (6-9 years), the single dose is 200 mg ibuprofen (equivalent to half a film-coated tablet).The maximum daily dose in this age group is 600 mg.

For children aged 10-11 and a body weight of 30-39 kg, the single dose is also 200 mg ibuprofen.In this age group, the maximum daily dose is 800 mg.

Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults can take 200-400 mg of the active ingredient ibuprofen in a single dose, whereby the maximum daily dose of 1200 mg must not be exceeded without express medical prescription.The dosing interval depends on the symptoms, but should not be less than 6 hours.

What should be taken into account when taking the medication?

No prescription is required for this product.The medicine is only intended for short-term use in self-medication.If symptoms do not improve within a few days, please consult your doctor.

Mode of action

The active ingredient ibuprofen belongs to a group of substances that are effective against both pain and inflammation and can reduce fever.All three effects are based primarily on the inhibition of a substance produced by the body, called prostaglandin.This substance must be present as a messenger substance so that pain can be felt, inflammatory reactions can be started or the body temperature can be raised.

Contraindications

Dolormin® Extra must not be used for:

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients

Ulcers in the digestive tract, including a history

Active bleeding, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, including a history, or cerebral hemorrhage

Third trimester pregnancy

Children under 6 years or weighing less than 20 kg

Side effects

Possible side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal pain.Also possible are headaches, dizziness, insomnia, tiredness, irritability, agitation, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as rash and itching, attacks of shortness of breath and visual disturbances.
