Instructions for use for ASS-ratiopharm 100 mg TAH tablets, 50 pcs
Product features
ASS-ratiopharm® 100 mg TAH contains the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid. Each tablet consists of 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid as well as the excipients corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose powder. No prescription is required for this product.
Mode of action
Acetylsalicylic acid acts as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase. It prevents platelets from sticking together and clumping together, which prevents the formation of blood clots. This improves the flow properties of the blood and prevents vascular blockages.
Areas of application
ASS-ratiopharm® 100 mg TAH is used for unstable angina pectoris, acute heart attack, to prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels and to prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarctions after precursor stages have occurred. It is not suitable for treating pain conditions.
Dosage and instructions for use
The dosage should always be as directed by a doctor. In general it is recommended:
For unstable angina pectoris and acute heart attack: 1 tablet daily. To prevent another heart attack: 3 tablets daily. After operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels and to prevent temporary lack of blood circulation in the brain and cerebral infarctions: 1 tablet daily.
The tablets should be swallowed whole with plenty of liquid after a meal.In the event of an acute heart attack, the first tablet should be bitten or chewed. The duration of use is determined by the attending physician.
Contraindications
ASS-ratiopharm® 100 mg TAH should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to the ingredients, acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, pathologically increased bleeding tendency, liver and kidney failure as well as severe, uncontrolled heart muscle weakness.Particular caution is required in the case of hypersensitivity to other anti-inflammatory drugs, existing allergies, asthma, hay fever, chronic respiratory diseases, simultaneous therapy with anticoagulants, stomach or intestinal ulcers in the past, oxalate urolithiasis, iron storage diseases, impaired liver and kidney function, patients with cerebral hemorrhages, patients with gout and before operations.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as in children under 12 years of age and in children and adolescents with feverish symptoms is contraindicated.
Side effects
Possible side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, microbleeds, and digestive tract ulcers.Skin hypersensitivity reactions may also occur. If side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.
Storage
The medicine should be protected from heat and moisture and stored in the original packaging. It must not be stored above 25 °C and must not be used after the expiry date.
Patient information
The treating doctor decides on the duration of use.If an overdose is suspected, a doctor should be contacted immediately. It should not be taken on an empty stomach.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medication should only be taken after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist. It is not allowed to be taken in the last three months of pregnancy as it can prolong the pregnancy and inhibit labor. An increased tendency to bleed may occur in both mother and child.Acetylsalicylic acid passes into breast milk in small quantities, so breastfeeding should be stopped if it is used for a long time or if larger quantities are taken.
Notes
ASS-ratiopharm® 100 mg TAH is not used to treat pain. The doctor or dentist should be informed before operations.Dizziness and ringing in the ears can be signs of an overdose. If the recommended dosage is exceeded, liver values can increase, so regular monitoring of liver values is necessary, especially in children. The drug can trigger a gout attack if uric acid levels are elevated. In children and adolescents with febrile illnesses, it should only be used on medical advice.
For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist.
