Areas of application

Calcivit D Forte effervescent tablets are used to treat simultaneous calcium and vitamin D deficiency in older people.They also support specific osteoporosis therapy in patients with proven or high risk of such a deficiency.

Active ingredients and composition

The effervescent tablets contain the active ingredients calcium carbonate and colecalciferol.One tablet contains 1,000 mg calcium, equivalent to 2,500 mg calcium carbonate, and 8.8 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate, equivalent to 880 international units of vitamin D3.The following excipients are also included: all-rac-alpha-tocopherol, citric acid, dimeticone, gelatin, lactose monohydrate, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate (vegetable), corn starch, methyl cellulose, sodium cyclamate, sodium hydrogen carbonate, povidone K 25, saccharin sodium, highly disperse silicon dioxide, hydrogenated soybean oil (Ph.Eur.), sucroseand flavorings (orange).

Dosage and application

The recommended daily dose is one effervescent tablet, dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.The tablet can be taken during or between meals.The duration of use is determined individually by the doctor.

Contraindications

Calcivit D Forte effervescent tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to the active ingredients or certain excipients, if you have elevated calcium levels in the blood or urine, if you have kidney stones, impaired kidney function, parathyroid disease, vitamin D overdose, myeloma, bone metastases, immobilization osteoporosis and sarcoidosis.The product is not suitable for children and adolescents.

Side effects

Possible side effects include increased calcium levels in the blood or urine, hypersensitivity reactions, itching, rash, hives, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.In rare cases, systemic allergic reactions may occur.

Interactions

Simultaneous intake with certain drugs, such as cardiac glycosides, thiazide diuretics, antibiotics (e.g. tetracyclines), bisphosphonates, sodium fluoride, fluoroquinolones, ketoconazole, quinolones, cephalosporins, iron and zinc preparations, estramustine, thyroid hormones, strontium ranelate, aluminum and bismuth salts, orlistat,Ion exchange resins, laxatives, rifampicin, phenytoin, barbiturates and systemic corticosteroids can affect the effect of Calcivit D Forte or the other medicines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, the daily intake of 1,500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D should not be exceeded.Calcivit D Forte should not be taken during pregnancy due to the high dose of vitamin D.During breastfeeding, calcium and vitamin D can pass into breast milk, which should be taken into account when giving the child additional vitamin D.

Storage

The medicine should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C and protected from moisture.After opening it should be used within one month.
