Maaloxan 25 mVal chewable tablets are an agent for binding excess stomach acid.The chewable tablets contain the active ingredients algeldrat and magnesium hydroxide.Algeldrat, also known as aluminum hydroxide gel, and magnesium hydroxide work together to neutralize stomach acid, thereby relieving pain and discomfort.

The chewable tablets are used for the symptomatic treatment of diseases in which stomach acid needs to be bound.These include heartburn and acid-related stomach problems as well as stomach or duodenal ulcers (ventricular ulcer and duodenal ulcer).

No prescription is required for this product.

Application and dosage

The chewable tablets should be chewed well.The usual dosage for adults is 1 to 2 tablets 1 to 2 hours after each meal and immediately before bed.If necessary, one or two tablets can be taken several times a day.The daily dose should not exceed 4 to 6 tablets.

Other medicines should generally be taken at least two hours before or after taking Maaloxan 25 mVal chewable tablets.Taking stomach acid-binding medicines is not recommended during treatment with certain antibiotics such as tetracyclines and quinolones.

The duration of use depends on the type and severity as well as the course of the disease.If the symptoms persist for longer than 2 weeks during treatment, you should consult a doctor.

Composition

The active ingredients in Maaloxan 25 mVal chewable tablets are algeldrat and magnesium hydroxide.One chewable tablet contains 400 mg Algeldrat, corresponding to 200 mg aluminum oxide, and 400 mg magnesium hydroxide, which corresponds to a neutralization capacity of approx. 25 mVal hydrochloric acid.

The other ingredients are mannitol, sorbitol, saccharin sodium, potato starch, mint flavor, magnesium stearate (vegetable) and sucrose.

Contraindications and precautions

Maaloxan 25 mVal chewable tablets must not be used in children under 12 years of age.People with hypersensitivity to the ingredients should not take the medicine.If you have impaired kidney function or a phosphate deficiency, you should consult a doctor before use.

Long-lasting and recurring stomach problems can be a sign of a serious illness.Treatment with the drug should therefore not last longer than 14 days without a medical examination.

Side effects

Possible side effects include loose stools.If you experience any discomfort or changes during treatment, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the folding box and blister pack.After opening the HDPE-bottle, the medicine has a shelf life of 6 months and should be stored away from moisture.
