Instructions for use of Micotar solution
Micotar solution is an antifungal drug used to treat fungal skin infections.These infections can be caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, molds and other pathogens such as Malassezia furfur.Typical areas of application include mycoses of the feet, fungal infections of the body skin and skin folds, superficial candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor and dwarf lichen (Erythrasma).
The active ingredient in Micotar solution is miconazole.The solution also contains the excipients 2-propanol, propylene glycol and macrogol 400. Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation, so the product should not be used on babies under 4 weeks of age with open wounds or extensive skin injuries without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
No prescription is required for this product.Please keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the label and carton.After first opening the bottle, Micotar solution has a shelf life of 8 weeks.
Application
Micotar solution is applied to the affected skin area 1-3 times a day.The duration of therapy is on average 2-5 weeks.If the signs of a fungal infection do not go away within the first 7 days after starting treatment, you should consult a doctor.Treatment should be carried out until the positive fungal cultures disappear, but at least 14 days after the symptoms have subsided.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Micotar solution can also have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions with itching, swelling and redness of the skin, hives, contact dermatitis, rash, burning of the skin, skin inflammation, skin irritation, sensation of warmth and localized reduction in normal skin color.
Contraindications
Micotar solution must not be used if you are allergic to miconazole, related antifungal medicines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The product is not suitable for use in the ear canal.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent (less than 1%).There are no data available as to whether the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only use Micotar solution after consulting a doctor.To avoid your baby's direct contact with Micotar solution, you should not use Micotar solution on the breast area during the entire breastfeeding period.
