Instructions for use for Braunol mucous membrane antiseptic

Braunol is a 7.5% solution for use on the skin and contains the active ingredient povidone-iodine.This product is an antiseptic used for disinfection and antimicrobial treatment.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Braunol is used for single use to disinfect the intact outer skin or to antiseptic the mucous membrane, for example before operations, biopsies, injections, punctures, blood samples and bladder catheterizations.In addition, it can be used for repeated, time-limited use in antiseptic wound treatment, such as pressure sores or leg ulcers, burns, infected skin diseases and for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection.

Important information on application

Braunol must not be used if you are allergic to povidone-iodine or any of the other ingredients of the drug, if you have hyperthyroidism or other thyroid diseases, if you have the very rare chronic skin inflammation dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring, if you are planning or undergoing radiotherapy of the thyroid gland with iodine, and if you have very small premature babies with a birth weight of less than 1500 g.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Braunol, especially if you have a goiter or are suffering from thyroid disease.Regular use of Braunol should be avoided if lithium therapy is used at the same time.

Application of Braunol

Apply Braunol undiluted to the area to be treated and keep the skin moist.The exposure time varies depending on skin type and area of application.Braunol is used for hand disinfection in specific quantities and exposure times.Braunol can be used undiluted or diluted for wound treatment.

Side effects
