Calcigen D Forte 1000 mg/880 IU effervescent tablets are a combination preparation that contains the active ingredients calcium carbonate and vitamin D3 (colecalciferol).This medicine is available without a prescription.It is used to treat combined vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in elderly patients and as supportive therapy for osteoporosis when such a deficiency has been identified or is at high risk of developing it.

Mode of action

Dosage and application

The usual dosage for adults and elderly patients is one effervescent tablet twice daily, morning and evening.Pregnant women should not take more than one effervescent tablet daily.The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.It is important not to take the tablets for longer than necessary and not to exceed the recommended dosage.

Contraindications

Calcigen D Forte effervescent tablets must not be taken if:

Hypersensitivity to calcium carbonate, vitamin D, soy, peanut or any of the other ingredients.High calcium concentrations in the blood (hypercalcemia) and/or increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalcuria).Conditions that lead to hypercalcemia and/or hypercalcuria, such as hyperfunction of the parathyroid glands, myeloma, bone metastases.Kidney failure.Kidney stones (nephrolithiasis) or calcium deposits in the kidneys (nephrocalcinosis).Vitamin D overdose (hypervitaminosis D).

Side effects

Like all medicines, Calcigen D Forte effervescent tablets can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include:

Uncommon: Increase in blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia) and/or increase in the amount of calcium excreted in urine (hypercalcuria).Rare: nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence, bloating, abdominal distension, constipation or diarrhea, itchy skin, rash and hives, itching, redness and burning of the skin.Not known: Serious allergic reactions such as:B. Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat;Vomit.

Interactions

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children!The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the carton and tube.Calcigen D effervescent tablets should not be stored above 25 °C.The tube should be kept tightly closed to protect the contents from moisture.

Composition

1 Effervescent tablet contains the following medicinally active ingredients: calcium carbonate 2,500 mg corresponding to elemental calcium 1,000 mg.Colecalciferol dry concentrate 8.8 mg corresponding to vitamin D3 22 µg (880 IU). The other ingredients are: alpha-tocopherol, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, corn starch, sucrose, gelatin, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, citric acid, (R,S)-hydroxysuccinic acid, sodium cyclamate, maltodextrin, saccharin sodium, lemon flavor.
