Calcigen D Forte 1000 mg/880 IU effervescent tablets are a combination preparation that contains the active ingredients calcium carbonate and vitamin D3 (colecalciferol).This medicine is available without a prescription.It is used to treat combined vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in elderly patients.It can also be used as an adjunct to specific osteoporosis treatment when there is a combined deficiency of vitamin D and calcium or there is a high risk of such deficiencies.

Active ingredients and ingredients

One effervescent tablet contains:

2500 mg calcium carbonate (equivalent to 1000 mg elemental calcium).8.8 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate (equivalent to 22 µg colecalciferol or 880 IU vitamin D3).

Other ingredients are: alpha-tocopherol, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, corn starch, sucrose, gelatin, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, citric acid, (R,S)-hydroxysuccinic acid, sodium cyclamate, maltodextrin, saccharin sodium, lemon flavor.

Dosage and application

The usual dose for adults and elderly patients is one effervescent tablet twice daily.Pregnant women should not take more than one effervescent tablet daily.The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.It should be taken in the morning and evening.

Side effects

Special precautions

Therefore, if you are pregnant, you should not take more than one Calcigen D Forte effervescent tablet per day.Higher doses may be harmful to the unborn child.Calcigen D Forte 1000 mg/880 IU effervescent tablets can be used during breastfeeding.Since calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk, you must first consult your doctor to check whether your child is already receiving products containing vitamin D3.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should take Calcigen D Forte 1000 mg/880 IU effervescent tablets two hours before or after meals to avoid potentially interfering with iron absorption.
