Cetirizine HEXAL juice for allergies is an anti-allergic drug used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as to relieve hives (urticaria).It is suitable for adults and children aged 2 and over.

Mode of action

The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride in cetirizine HEXAL juice for allergies helps with allergies and relieves itching.It suppresses the effects of the body's own substances histamine and prostaglandins by inhibiting the release of these substances from the mast cells and displacing them from their binding sites.Histamine and prostaglandins play an important role in the development of inflammation and allergic reactions.

Cetirizine HEXAL juice for allergies contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.1 ml oral solution contains 1 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are acetic acid 20%, glycerol 85%, sodium acetate trihydrate, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.), propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.), propylene glycol, saccharin sodium, sorbitol solution 70% (crystallizing) (Ph.Eur.), purified water and banana aroma.

Dosage

The oral solution can be taken undiluted.The pack contains a 5 ml measuring spoon with graduations of 2.5 ml and 1.25 ml. Adults and adolescents over 12 years take 10 mg once daily as a 10 ml oral solution (2 measuring spoons).Children aged 6-12 years take 5 mg twice daily as 5 ml oral solution (1 measuring spoon) twice daily.Children aged 2-6 years take 2.5 mg twice daily as 2.5 ml oral solution (1/2 measuring spoon) twice daily.

Patients with kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg as a 5 ml solution once daily.If you have severe kidney disease, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist, who can adjust your dose accordingly.

The length of time you take it depends on the type, duration and course of your symptoms.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Intake

The oral solution can be taken undiluted.

Contraindications

Cetirizine HEXAL juice for allergies must not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, in severe renal insufficiency, in allergies to piperazine derivatives, in infants and children under 2 years of age and during breastfeeding.Use during pregnancy should be avoided due to insufficient experience.

Please ask your doctor for advice before taking cetirizine HEXAL juice for allergies if you suffer from impaired kidney function, have difficulty urinating, are an epilepsy patient or are at risk of seizures, or if you are taking other medications in addition to cetirizine HEXAL juice for allergies.

Side effects

Possible side effects of cetirizine HEXAL juice in the case of allergies can include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, runny nose, discomfort, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, malaise and general weakness.

Storage

If you have allergies, keep Cetirizine HEXAL juice out of the reach of children.You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton after “use by”.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.After opening, the medicine can be used for 3 months.

Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.

Avoid taking cetirizine HEXAL juice at the same time if you have allergies and alcohol.

Patient information

Take special care when taking this medicine if you have impaired kidney function, epilepsy or are at risk of seizures.No interactions with significant effects have been observed between alcohol and cetirizine at normal doses.However, as with all antihistamines, it is recommended to avoid taking alcohol at the same time.

In clinical studies, the drug at the recommended dose did not cause any signs of impairment of attention, alertness or ability to drive.If you intend to drive, work without a secure footing or operate machines, you should not use more than the recommended dose.You should closely monitor your reaction to the medicine.

Pregnancy

Taking cetirizine HEXAL juice if you have allergies should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding and only after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
