Cetirizine STADA® 10 mg film-coated tablets
Cetirizine STADA® 10 mg film-coated tablets are an anti-allergic drug used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to treat chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria).The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride helps suppress the body's allergic reactions.
Areas of application
Cetirizine STADA® is used for the symptomatic treatment of allergies.It relieves symptoms such as nasal congestion, itchy eyes and skin rashes caused by allergic reactions.The drug is particularly effective for hay fever and chronic hives.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredient in Cetirizine STADA® 10 mg film-coated tablets is cetirizine dihydrochloride.Each film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, macrogol 400, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), highly dispersed silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide (E 171).
Dosage and application
Cetirizine STADA® should always be taken exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride once daily, equivalent to one tablet.Children between 6 and 12 years of age should take 5 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride twice daily, which is equivalent to half a tablet twice daily.Patients with moderate to severe kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.
The tablets should be taken whole with liquid, preferably in the evening.They can be taken with or without food.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.The duration of use depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms and should be discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Cetirizine STADA® should be kept out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the outer carton and blister pack.No special storage conditions are required.Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
Contraindications
Cetirizine STADA® must not be used if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.If you have severe kidney disease, the drug should not be taken.Infants and children under 2 years of age should not be treated with this medicine as there is insufficient experience.
Side effects
Possible side effects of cetirizine STADA® include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, runny nose, discomfort, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, malaise and general weakness.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Important notes
Cetirizine STADA® contains lactose.Patients with intolerance to lactose should take this into account.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.Therefore, always tell your doctor or pharmacist information about all the medicines you are already using.No prescription is required for this product.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
During pregnancy and breastfeeding you should only take cetirizine STADA® after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.Although animal experiments have shown no evidence of fetal damage, use during pregnancy should be avoided as a precaution.Because cetirizine passes into breast milk, it should not be taken by nursing mothers.
Other
Cetirizine STADA® should not be taken with alcohol.Patients who drive, work or operate machines without a secure footing are advised not to exceed the specified dose and to wait for the individual reaction to the medication.
