What is Cetirizine STADA® and what is it used for?

Cetirizine STADA® is an anti-allergic drug with the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.It is used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as to relieve chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria).Cetirizine STADA® is suitable for adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over.

How should Cetirizine STADA® be taken?

Cetirizine STADA® should always be taken exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet or as prescribed by a doctor.The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride once daily (as 1 tablet).Children between 6 and 12 years of age should take 5 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride twice daily (as 1/2 tablet).Patients with moderate to severe kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.

The tablets should be taken whole with liquid, preferably in the evening.They can be taken with or without food.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms.If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

What Cetirizine STADA® 10 mg film-coated tablets contains

The active ingredient is cetirizine dihydrochloride.One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, macrogol 400, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), highly dispersed silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide (E171).

How should Cetirizine STADA® be stored?

Cetirizine STADA® should be kept out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the outer carton and blister pack.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.

Areas of application

Cetirizine STADA® is used for the symptomatic treatment of allergic diseases such as hay fever.It relieves allergic nose and eye symptoms as well as chronic hives.

Dosage and instructions for use

Children 6 to 12 years old should take half a tablet twice daily, regardless of meals.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults should take one tablet once a day, also regardless of meals.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.Take the medicine with liquid.The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease.If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Cetirizine STADA® should not be used if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients.If you have a tendency to seizures, impaired kidney function or impaired liver function, use should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist.Children under 6 years of age should generally not use the medicine.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use should be discussed with a doctor.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, runny nose, abnormal sensations, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, malaise and general weakness.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Mode of action

Cetirizine STADA® helps with allergies and relieves itching.The active ingredient suppresses the effects of the body's own substances histamine and prostaglandins by inhibiting the release of these substances from the mast cells and displacing them from their binding sites.Histamine and prostaglandins play an important role in the development of inflammation and allergic reactions.

Important notes

Be careful if you have an intolerance to lactose.If you have to follow a diabetes diet, you should consider the sugar content.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.Therefore, tell your doctor or pharmacist information about all the medicines you are already using.No prescription is required for this product.
