Serasept 1 and Serasept 2, antiseptic solution

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 are sterile antiseptic solutions whose composition corresponds to a Ringer solution DAB 7.Serasept 1 contains 0.02% polihexanide, while Serasept 2 has a concentration of 0.04% polihexanide.These drugs are used for the adjuvant antiseptic treatment of wounds, for example after surgical debridement.The application is carried out by a medical professional or a doctor.

Important notes

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 must not be used in the area of cartilage and joints, intraperitoneally or if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.Its use should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding as its safety has not been sufficiently proven.There is not yet sufficient experience with children and infants, so its use should only be considered if there is a compelling indication.Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 are not suitable for injection or infusion and must not be mixed with additives or resterilized.

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 are used by a medical professional or a doctor.The dosage depends on the type and severity of the disease.Compresses moistened with Serasept are applied directly to the wound surface.The wound dressing is completely replaced once a day after moistening and is also moistened with the solution once a day.Initially, dirty and ulcerated wounds should be treated with Serasept 2.Serasept 1 is used for repeated use on wounds.

The duration of application is determined by the attending physician depending on the condition of the wound.In general, treatment continues until the wound is completely closed.From clinical studies there are application data for polihexanide up to a period of 6 months.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Serasept 1/Serasept 2 is too strong or too weak.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria and rash.Very rarely, systemic anaphylactic reactions may occur.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.This also applies to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

Storage

Keep Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the container and outer packaging.Only use clear solutions in undamaged containers!Any decanting may only be carried out under aseptic conditions.From a microbiological point of view, Serasept 1/Serasept 2 should be used immediately unless the method of opening eliminates the risk of contamination.From a microbiological point of view, the product can be stored for a maximum of 8 weeks after first opening.

Composition and manufacturer

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 contain polihexanide as the active ingredient in concentrations of 0.02% and 0.04%, respectively.Other ingredients include sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride dihydrate, macrogol 4000, water for injections and sodium hydroxide.The solution is available in plastic bottles with different pack sizes.
