Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 are sterile antiseptic solutions used for the adjuvant treatment of wounds.The solutions contain polihexanide in different concentrations: Serasept 1 contains 0.02% polihexanide, while Serasept 2 contains 0.04% polihexanide.Both solutions are based on a Ringer solution DAB 7.

Areas of application

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 are used for adjuvant antiseptic treatment of wounds, for example after surgical debridement.The application is carried out by a medical professional or a doctor.

Application instructions

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 must not be used in the area of cartilage and joints, intraperitoneally or if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.Use should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding as there is insufficient experience.It should also only be used in children and infants if absolutely necessary.

The solutions are applied directly to the wound surface.The wound is treated with Serasept-moistened compresses and the bandage is replaced once a day.Serasept 2 is used initially, while Serasept 1 is used for repeated use.The duration of use is determined by the attending physician.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria and rash.Very rarely, systemic anaphylactic reactions may occur.

Storage

Keep Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 out of the reach of children and do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container.The solutions should only be used in intact containers.From a microbiological point of view, the product has a maximum shelf life of 8 weeks after opening.

Ingredients

In addition to polihexanide, Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 contain the following ingredients: sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride dihydrate, macrogol 4000, water for injections and sodium hydroxide.
