Serasept 1 and Serasept 2: Antiseptic solution

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 are sterile antiseptic solutions whose composition corresponds to a Ringer solution DAB 7.Serasept 1 contains 0.02% polihexanide, while Serasept 2 has a concentration of 0.04% polihexanide.These solutions are used for adjuvant antiseptic treatment of wounds, for example after surgical debridement.It is used by medical professionals or doctors.

Application and dosage

Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 are used by healthcare professionals or doctors.The dosage depends on the type and severity of the disease.The wound surface is treated with Serasept-moistened compresses.The wound dressing is replaced once a day and additionally moistened with the solution.Serasept 2 is used initially for dirty and festering wounds, while Serasept 1 is used for repeated use.

The solution is applied directly to the skin.The moist wound treatment is carried out with Serasept-soaked compresses, using around 10 ml of solution per 10 x 10 cm² compress area.The duration of application is determined by the treating doctor and usually takes place until the wound has completely closed.Clinical studies have shown usage data for polihexanide up to 6 months.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria and rash.Very rarely, systemic anaphylactic reactions may occur.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container.Use only clear solutions in intact containers.Decanting may only be carried out under aseptic conditions.From a microbiological point of view, Serasept 1 and Serasept 2 should be used immediately unless the method of opening eliminates the risk of contamination.The product can be stored for a maximum of 8 weeks after first opening.
