Instructions for use for SERASEPT 1 solution, 250 ml

SERASEPT® 1 and SERASEPT® 2 are sterile antiseptic solutions used for adjuvant antiseptic treatment of wounds, e.g. after surgical debridement. SERASEPT® 1 contains 0.02% polihexanide and SERASEPT® 2 contains 0.04% polihexanide. The solutions are used by a doctor or healthcare professional and applied directly to the wound surface. SERASEPT® 1 is used for repeated applications, while SERASEPT® 2 is used especially for soiled and suppurated wounds. The duration of application is determined by the attending physician and may last until complete wound closure. Both solutions should not be used in the area of cartilage and joints, intraperitoneally or in case of hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients. No information is available on the use of SERASEPT® 1 and SERASEPT® 2 during pregnancy and lactation, so a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before use. Interactions with other medicinal products are not known. Possible side effects may include hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria and exanthema.
