With a raw material from nature: Scopolamine is obtained from the Duboisia plant and chemically refined into the well-tolerated and antispasmodic active ingredient butylscopolamine.

1 Suppository of Buscopan Plus suppositories contains:

800 mg paracetamol, 10 mg butylscopolaminium bromide.

Other ingredients: hard fat, (3-sn-phosphatidyl)choline from soybeans.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur to all medicines, in which case you must stop taking the medication immediately.If an allergy to the active ingredient or one of the other ingredients of the medicine is known, it must not be used.The medicine must not be taken if there are narrowings in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary stasis due to narrowing of the urinary tract (for example in the case of an enlarged prostate), certain eye diseases (angle-closure glaucoma), rapid heartbeat, certain autoimmune diseases (myasthenia gravis/Goldflam disease), pathological enlargement of the large intestine (megacolon) and children under 12 years of age.Caution is advised in the case of liver dysfunction (e.g. due to chronic alcohol abuse, liver inflammation), previously damaged kidneys and Gilbert's syndrome (Meulengracht disease).In these cases, a reduction in quantity or a longer interval between receipts may be necessary.

Dosage

Recommended use of Buscopan Plus suppositories:

Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 1 suppository (single dose).The maximum dose per day (24 hours) is 3 - 4 suppositories.The time interval between use of the next suppository (if necessary) must be at least 6 hours.

Intake

The suppositories are removed from the covering and inserted into the empty rectum.Please do not press the exposed suppository out of the foil, but rather “peel it out”.Do not use BUSCOPAN PLUS for longer than 3 - 4 days without medical advice.

Patient information

Particular care is required when using it.A doctor should be consulted immediately if severe abdominal pain persists or worsens or occurs along with symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, changes in bowel movement, abdominal tenderness (pressure), drop in blood pressure, fainting or blood in the stool.Only use the medicine after consulting your doctor if you suffer from impaired liver function (e.g. due to chronic alcohol abuse or liver inflammation), if you suffer from Gilbert's syndrome (Meulengracht disease), if you have previously damaged kidneys or if you have glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.The preparation should not be used for longer than 3 - 4 days without a doctor's recommendation. If pain persists or worsens, or new symptoms appear, you should see a doctor.Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. anaphylactic shock) have been observed very rarely.If redness or swelling occurs (signs of a hypersensitivity reaction), stop treatment immediately and consult a doctor.In the event of an overdose, there is a risk of serious liver and kidney damage due to the paracetamol content.To prevent the risk of overdose, it should be ensured that other medicines used at the same time do not contain paracetamol.Long-term, high-dose, improper use of painkillers can cause headaches, which should not be treated with increased doses of the drug.If painkillers are stopped abruptly after long-term, high-dose, improper use, headaches as well as fatigue, muscle pain, nervousness and vegetative symptoms may occur.The withdrawal symptoms subside within a few days.Until then, you should not take painkillers again and should not take them again without medical advice.Blood count, liver and kidney function should be monitored during prolonged use.Do not give the medicine to children under 12 years of age as there is no sufficient experience for this age group.There is no experience with regard to impairment of the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.There is insufficient experience with the use of BUSCOPAN PLUS in pregnant women.Although there has so far been no evidence of a teratogenic effect - including through many years of experience with the individual substances of BUSCOPAN PLUS - the use of BUSCOPAN PLUS is not recommended during pregnancy.During breastfeeding, BUSCOPAN PLUS should only be used after careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio.

Application

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over: insert 1 suppository 3-4 times daily.Do not take more than 4 suppositories within 24 hours.The maximum daily dose (24 hours) must not be exceeded under any circumstances, and the time interval between use of the next suppository (if necessary) must be at least 6 hours.The suppositories are removed from the covering and inserted into the empty rectum.
