LACTUFLOR is a medicine used to treat constipation and other bowel disorders. It contains the active ingredient lactulose and comes as an oral solution. The use of LACTUFLOR is indicated when a high-fibre diet alone is not sufficient to relieve constipation. It is also used to facilitate bowel emptying and soften stools in painful anal symptoms. In addition, LACTUFLOR can be used to treat portocaval encephalopathy in liver disease. There are some contraindications where the use of LACTUFLOR should be avoided, such as allergies to the ingredients, intestinal obstruction and certain gastrointestinal diseases. Pregnant and breastfeeding women, however, can take the drug without concern. The dosage of LACTUFLOR varies according to age and illness and should be taken in consultation with a doctor. Side effects may occur, such as gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
