Diclac Schmerzgel 1 % Gel is used for the external treatment of pain, inflammation and swelling in sports and accident injuries, rheumatic diseases of the soft tissues and degenerative diseases of the peripheral joints of the extremities. It can also be used for pain, swelling and inflammation of the musculoskeletal system, such as swelling and inflammation of the soft tissues near the joints, osteoarthritis, bruises, sprains, strains and inflammation of superficial veins. The recommended dose is a cherry to walnut-sized amount of gel 3-4 times a day, depending on the size of the painful area. The maximum total daily dose is 16 g of gel. The gel should be applied thinly to the affected skin area and rubbed in gently. It must not be ingested and should not come into contact with open wounds, inflammations or infections of the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. The duration of application is usually 1-2 weeks. If symptoms persist for longer, a doctor should be consulted. The gel must not be used on children under 14 years of age. Side effects may include allergic skin reactions, water retention and hypersensitivity reactions of the skin. The gel contains the active substance diclofenac sodium, which has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects. It should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, spontaneously occurring skin or mucous membrane swelling, hives, chronic respiratory infections, asthma or allergic rhinitis. During pregnancy and lactation, a doctor should be consulted before use. The gel should be stored at room temperature and may be used for a maximum of 9 months after opening.
