Area of application

Biotin-ratiopharm® 5 mg tablets are intended for the prevention and treatment of biotin deficiency states.Adequate biotin requirements are important for the health of hair, nails and psychological well-being.These tablets offer targeted support in the prevention and treatment of biotin deficiency.

Biotin, also known as vitamin H, can help with hair and nail breakage caused by biotin deficiency and contribute to the development of healthy, strong hair and stronger nails.It can also promote psychological well-being.The preparation is also suitable for the treatment of the very rare biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency.The tablets have a score line so they are easy to divide and are also suitable for people who have difficulty swallowing.It can be taken flexibly regardless of meals and should be taken with sufficient fluid.

Mode of action

Biotin, also called vitamin H or vitamin B7, is a water-soluble vitamin of the B complex.As a coenzyme, it is involved in many biochemical processes in the body, particularly in the transfer of carboxyl groups.A deficiency can therefore affect the entire metabolism.

In addition, biotin stimulates the formation of epidermal cells and has an effect on all keratin structures in the body, i.e. skin, nails and hair.It is thought to increase keratin matrix proteins, which explains its positive influence on these structures.

One tablet of Biotin-ratiopharm® 5 mg contains 5 mg of biotin (vitamin H) as an active ingredient.Other ingredients included: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, povidone K 30, crospovidone and magnesium distearate.

Contraindications

If you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the tablets should not be used.When used as directed, there are no restrictions for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed, for the prevention and treatment of nutritional or illness-related deficiencies, take half to one tablet daily, which corresponds to 2.5 mg to 5 mg of biotin.To treat multiple carboxylase deficiency, one to two tablets, equivalent to 5 mg to 10 mg of biotin, are required daily.The duration of use depends on the course of the underlying disease.For pure prevention, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.Take the tablets whole and with plenty of liquid.

Intake

The preparation is taken whole with sufficient liquid.

Notes

Anticonvulsants, i.e. drugs used to treat seizures, can reduce biotin levels.No prescription is required for this product.

Notes
