Biotin-ratiopharm® 5 mg tablets are used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency states.Biotin, also known as vitamin H or vitamin B7, is essential for hair, nail health and psychological well-being.The preparation supports the formation of healthy and strong hair as well as strong nails in cases of biotin deficiency.It can also promote psychological well-being.The tablets have a score line so they are easy to divide and are also suitable for people who have difficulty swallowing.It can be taken flexibly regardless of meals and should be taken with sufficient fluid.

The preparation is also suitable for treating the very rare biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin of the B complex and acts as a coenzyme in many biochemical processes in the body.It is particularly involved in the transfer of carboxyl groups, thereby influencing metabolism.Biotin promotes the development of epidermal cells and affects all keratin structures in the body, such as skin, nails and hair.It is believed to increase keratin matrix proteins, leading to improvement in these structures.

One tablet of Biotin-ratiopharm® 5 mg contains 5 mg of biotin (vitamin H) as an active ingredient.Other ingredients included: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, povidone K 30, crospovidone and magnesium distearate.

Contraindications

Biotin-ratiopharm® 5 mg tablets should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.When used as directed, there are no restrictions for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, take half to one whole tablet of Biotin-ratiopharm® 5 mg daily for the prevention and treatment of nutritional or illness-related deficiencies.This corresponds to a dose of 2.5 mg to 5 mg of biotin.To treat multiple carboxylase deficiency, the daily dose is one to two tablets, corresponding to 5 mg to 10 mg of biotin.The duration of use depends on the course of the underlying disease.To simply prevent deficiency states, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.Take the tablets whole and with plenty of liquid.

Intake

The preparation is taken whole with sufficient liquid.

Notes

Anticonvulsants, i.e. drugs used to treat seizures, can reduce biotin levels.No prescription is required for this product.
