Magnetrans® extra 243 mg hard capsules contain the active ingredient heavy magnesium oxide.This preparation is used in cases of proven magnesium deficiency if this is the cause of muscle activity disorders, such as neuromuscular disorders or leg cramps.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Magnetrans® extra 243 mg hard capsules offer quick help for muscle and calf cramps caused by magnesium deficiency.Each hard capsule contains 403 mg of heavy magnesium oxide, which corresponds to 243 mg of magnesium, i.e. 10 mmol of magnesium.

Magnesium is essential for strong muscles and is required for over 300 body functions.However, the body cannot produce magnesium itself, which is why magnesium preparations such as Magnetrans® extra help to promote a balanced magnesium balance.It is recommended to take only one capsule daily.

Each Magnetrans® extra 243 mg hard capsule contains 403 mg of heavy magnesium oxide, which corresponds to 243 mg of magnesium, i.e. 10 mmol of magnesium.In addition, the preparation contains microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin, macrogol 4000, sodium dodecyl sulfate, purified water, black iron (III) oxide hydrate, iron(II,III) oxide, iron (III) oxide and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to magnesium oxide or any of the other ingredients.The preparation should also not be used in cases of severe kidney dysfunction, myasthenia gravis, a tendency to certain kidney stones or conduction disorders between the atrium and the ventricle.It is also not advisable to take it if there is a significant loss of water and salt.If necessary, your doctor should check the electrolyte balance in the blood to rule out possible contraindications such as excess magnesium or excess potassium.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take one Magnetrans® extra 243 mg hard capsule daily.The capsule should be taken in the morning with breakfast with some liquid, such as a glass of water.

Some minerals and medicines can reduce the absorption of magnesium.Therefore, Magnetrans® extra should not be taken at the same time as iron, fluorides or tetracyclines.There should be at least 2 to 3 hours between taking these substances and the magnesium capsules.Aminoquinolines, quinidine, certain antibiotics and penicillamine should not be used at the same time as Magnetrans® capsules.

Intake

Take the capsule with some liquid, such as a glass of water, in the morning with breakfast.

Patient information

Particular caution is required in cases of mild to moderate renal impairment or a tendency to form infected kidney stones during a urinary tract infection.In these cases, the medicine should only be taken after consulting a doctor.

To date, no effects on the ability to drive or use machines have been reported.However, if the preparation is taken in high doses and for a long period of time, symptoms of fatigue may occur, which can impair attention.

Pregnancy

Before taking any medication, you should ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.There are no contraindications to taking Magnetrans® extra during pregnancy or breastfeeding.There have been no reports of harmful effects during pregnancy or breastfeeding in humans.However, experience with the use of magnesium in early pregnancy is very limited.

If magnesium is administered shortly before birth, the newborn should be monitored by a doctor for signs of adverse effects, such as respiratory depression or muscle weakness, during the first 24 to 48 hours of life.

Notes

If you have diarrhea, you should temporarily stop taking it.After stool normalization, the medicine can be taken again in a smaller amount.If the kidney function is impaired and the drug is taken for a long time, the magnesium level in the blood must be checked regularly.
